NEW YORK, New York – Quinnipiac Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach Steve Coxon ran in the 2011 ING New York City Marathon which took place on Nov. 6. Coxon completed his first marathon as he raised $3,000 dollars on behalf of Grassroot Soccer and its efforts with HIV prevention.
"I always had a goal of running a Marathon and what better then to run the largest , most prestigious marathon in the world while raising money for Grassroots Soccer and HIV prevention,” said Quinnipiac Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach Steve Coxon. “Despite getting sick the day of the race, I did manage to raise money for a great cause and finish the event. It’s something I will never forget."
Grassroot Soccer is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “use the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize communities to stop the spread of HIV” through prevention education. People can continue to benefit Grassroot Soccer and donate at the links above.
