EMMITSBURG, Md. – The Quinnipiac women’s soccer team lost, 4-1, in a Northeast Conference match-up at Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Bobcats drop to 4-9-1 overall and 3-5-0 in the NEC, while the Mountaineers improve to 6-8-2 on the year and 4-4-0 in conference play.

Down, 2-0, in the second half, Quinnipiac senior midfielder Kristina Del Mistro (East Williston, N.Y.) scored the Bobcats’ only goal of the game in the 73rd minute off a pass from graduate student Kyla Miles (Newtown, Conn.). The goal was Del Mistro’s third of the 2011 season.

Mount St. Mary’s Kelly Baker notched the game’s first goal in the 36th minute of play off assists from Andrea Bujacich and Sadie Winship. Winship slid a through ball to Baker, who then scored her second goal of the year to put the Mountaineers on the scoreboard, 1-0. Mount St. Mary’s increased its lead, 2-0, on an unassisted goal by Jackie Corley in the 53rd minute.

After Del Mistro tallied a point for Quinnipiac, Mount St. Mary’s Alicia Mirando added two goals late in the second half to widen the gap, 4-1. Mirando scored a goal from 18-yards out in the 82nd minute and scored again, less than two minutes later, on a pass from Ragan Cote.

"We didn't take our chances today," said head coach Dave Clarke. "Even though we won, 2-1, on Friday, to who I think is one of the best teams in the league, we've continued to make the same mistakes we've been making all year."

Overall, Mount St. Mary’s outshot Quinnipiac, 17-10, but each team took five corner kicks in the match. The Bobcats’ senior keeper Jill Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) made six saves in the outing, while Alicia Miller had three stops in net for the Mountaineers.

Quinnipiac returns to action when it plays its final two NEC games of the regular season next weekend. The Bobcats will travel to face Central Connecticut State on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and will host Bryant on Sunday, Oct. 30 at noon at the Quinnipiac Soccer Field in Hamden, Conn.
