Women's Soccer Edged By Harvard, 1-0, In Double Overtime
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -
The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team lost, 1-0, in a
non-conference match against Harvard University on Friday evening.
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 5-7-3 on the season, while the
Crimson improve to 7-6-1 overall. Quinnipiac is currently ranked
6th in the Northeast Conference at 3-2-3.
"We had a couple of half chances," said Head Coach Dave
Clarke. "We played well on the break and I'm proud of the way
they played."
The game's only goal was scored in the 102nd minute of
play by Harvard sophomore Alexandra Conigliaro for her fourth goal
of the season. Katherine Sheeleigh crossed the ball into the box
and found Conigliaro for the shot.
Quinnipiac goalie Jillian
Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) saw the first 25 minutes of action and
recorded three saves, while senior Kendra
Margulies (Weston, Mass.) saw 76 minutes, allowed one goal and
made seven saves in her first match of the season. Harvard
goalkeepers Alexandra Millet and Jessica Wright split time and made
a combined three saves on the game.
The Bobcats host their final two conference games of the season at
the Quinnipiac Soccer Field in Hamden, Conn. this weekend.
Quinnipiac plays Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. and
Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.
