Women's Soccer Ties, 0-0, At Robert Morris
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team
tied, 0-0, against Robert Morris, in a Northeast Conference match
held at the North Athletic Complex on Sunday, Oct. 17. With the
draw, the Bobcats become 4-6-3 on the season and 2-2-3 in the NEC.
The Colonials are now 5-8-2 overall and 2-3-1 in conference
play.
"We dominated the game, but we didn't score," said Head Coach Dave
Clarke. "Our back four were tremendous, but we missed so many
clear cut opportunities. We've just got to find a way to put the
ball in the back of the net over the next three (conference)
games."
Quinnipiac outshot Robert Morris, 15-11, during regulation time.
However, the Bobcats were unable to find the back of the net and
the game was forced into overtime, for Quinnipiac's third time this
season.
Junior goalkeeper Jillian
Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) made one save for the Bobcats during
the first 90 minutes of play, while Jessica Olin made nine saves
for the Colonials.
Quinnipiac forward Furtuna
Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) had three shots in the last five
minutes of overtime play. However, the junior was unable to
capitalize, and the game resulted in a 0-0 draw.
With the tie, Kelley earns her third shutout of the season.
The Bobcats play Bryant University on Friday Oct. 22 for a
conference match-up at the Bryant Track and Turf Complex in
Smithfield, Rhode Island. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:00
p.m.
