Bobcats Travel To New York
The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team travels to
Staten Island, N.Y. on Friday, Oct. 1 to take on the Seahawks of
Wagner College in a Northeast Conference game at Wagner College
Stadium at 3 p.m. The Bobcats then head to Brooklyn, N.Y. on
Sunday, Oct. 3, where they will face conference opponent Long
Island University at the LIU Field at 1 p.m. Quinnipiac is 1-0-0 in
the conference and 3-4-0 overall after its first NEC win against
Central Connecticut State last weekend.

Scouting
Wagner
Wagner College has a 4-7-0 overall record and is 0-1-0 in
the conference thus far. In Wagner's only conference match-up
against Long Island University on Sept. 24, the Seahawks were
defeated 4-0, as four different Blackbirds scored against Wagner
goalie Katie Marcy. Marcy made nine saves in the game against LIU
and has made a total of 58 saves. The freshman has allowed 22 goals
on the season. Wagner has won its games this season against
non-conference opponents Pacific (1-0), Howard (4-1), Holy Cross
(4-1), and NJIT (1-0). Leading Wagner's offense is sophomore Julie
Vigliotti with five goals, three assists, 13 points and 22 shots.
Also making an impact for the Seahawks is freshman Jackie Nicholas
with three goals on the season. Wagner has scored a total of 13
goals.

Quinnipiac holds an overall record of 8-2-1 with Wagner.
Last season on Oct. 18, the Bobcats defeated the Seahawks, 4-2, in
a game at the Quinnipiac Soccer Field. Jillian
Strassner (Avon, Conn.) scored one goal and had two assists in
the win. Also scoring for Quinnipiac was Furtuna
Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) and Shauna
Edwards (Southington, Conn.). Up 3-2 at the half, senior
Lindsay Oliveri scored the Bobcats' fourth goal securing the win
for the Bobcats.
Scouting
Long Island
The Blackbirds
currently hold an overall record of 7-1-1 and are 1-0-0 in the
conference after a shutout win against Wagner College, 4-0. Four
different players scored in the win over Wagner, including juniors
Toni Smith, Ariana Calderon and Sarah Laughlin. Sophomore Nikki
Labo also scored for the Blackbirds. Leading the team's offense is
Smith with 10 points, four goals and two assists. The Blackbirds'
offense has contributed 19 goals and 16 assists on the season. Long
Island's only loss was against California Polytechnic State
University (2-1). The team's only tie thus far was against Harvard,
2-2. Freshman Jessica Sexton leads the NCAA in goals against
average (0.17) and has only allowed one goal overall. Sexton has
made a total of 22 saves on the season. Also playing in net for the
Blackbirds is Jennifer Bannon, allowing four goals in six
games.

The Bobcats hold a
7-3-1 record with the Blackbirds. In their last meeting on Oct. 16,
2009, Quinnipiac defeated Long Island, 3-0, on the Bobcats' home

Del Mistro (East Williston, N.Y.) each tallied one goal.

Four
Goals, Four Players
Quinnipiac earned
their first conference win on Sept. 26 against Central Connecticut
State, 4-2. The Bobcats got goals from four different players in
their third straight win of the season. Both Jillian

McLoughlin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) tallied one goal and one assist.
Also scoring for Quinnipiac was freshman defender Beck
Kiting (Canberra, Australia) and junior forward Furtuna
Velaj.

Kiting earned her first NEC honor as she was named
adidas/NEC Co-Rookie of the Week on Sept.
27. Kiting scored her first career goal in Sunday's game against
Central Connecticut State.
Kelley Keeps
It Up
Quinnipiac goalie Jillian
Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) now has three wins this season. Kelley
has started in every game for the Bobcats and has allowed a total
of 12 goals. The junior has a goals-against average of 1.71 and has
made 36 saves on the season.

Head Coach Dave
Clarke earned his 99th win against Central
Connecticut State on Sunday.
Bobcats Back Home
Quinnipiac plays its next two conference match-ups at the
Quinnipiac Soccer Field in Hamden, Conn. The Bobcats will face
Monmouth on Friday, Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m. and Mount St. Mary's on
Sunday, Oct. 10 at noon.
