Rebecca Kiting Named adidas/NEC Co-Rookie Of The Week
HAMDEN,
Conn. - Quinnipiac University freshman women's soccer player Beck
Kiting (Canberra, Australia) was named adidas/NEC
Co-Rookie of the Week after scoring her first collegiate goal in
Quinnipiac's 4-2 victory against conference rival Central
Connecticut State University on Sunday, Sept. 26. The Northeast
Conference honor is the defender's first of her career. Kiting
shares the award with Saint Francis' Barbara Maros de Carvalho, who
had three assists in the Red Flash win at Robert Morris.
Down 2-1 in the first half, Kiting was able to convert an assist
from teammate Meagan
McLoughlin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) to tie the game up in the
43rd minute of play. McLoughlin was able to slide the
ball through defenders to find Kiting, who blasted a shot past the
Blue Devil goalkeeper. The Bobcats were able to score two more
goals in the second half, defeating Central Connecticut State in
their first conference match of the season.
Quinnipiac travels to New York for its next two conference games of
the season. The Bobcats face Wagner on Friday, Oct. 1 at the Wagner
College Stadium in Staten Island, N.Y at 3:30 p.m. They then travel
to play Long Island University on Sunday, Oct. 3 at the LIU Field
in Brooklyn, N.Y at 12 p.m
