QU Women's Rugby Announces 2014 Schedule

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University women's rugby head coach Becky Carlson has announced the Bobcats' 2014 schedule. The Bobcats will play a 13-game schedule, featuring a four home games at the Quinnipiac Rugby Field.

Quinnipiac will be led by 2013 Rugby Magazine's U20 Player of the Year and two-time All American Natalie Kosko. The Bobcats have reached the ACRA National Tournament Quarterfinals in each of the last two seasons, including an appearance in the National Semifinals in 2011-12. Last season, the Bobcats were 10-3, includings wins in their last six regular-season games. Quinnipiac outscored their opponents 567-to-200 across its 13 regular-season contests, with a season-high 94 points coming against the University of Massachusetts on Oct. 12.

"Our schedule, without question is one of the most competitive in the country," Carlson said. "As more athletic departments continue to add varsity programs, we are excited to continue to be a leader in women's rugby at the collegiate level by facing our fellow NCAA opponents for the 2014-15 season."

The Bobcats open the 2014 season on the road in Marietta,  Ga. when they face Life University on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 12 p.m. The Bobcats return home a week later when they host the United States Military Academy for its home opener on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 12 p.m., followed by a trip to Dartmouth College on Saturday, Sept. 13. Quinnipiac wraps-up the month of September at home when it hosts Norwich on Saturday, Sept. 27.

October opens with the Bobcats on the road on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Brigham Young University. Quinnipiac will then return home on Saturday, Oct. 18 to host Eastern Illinois University at 1 p.m. The Bobcats finish their October schedule on the road at Central Washington University on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The Bobcats will then travel to Annapolis, Md. to take on Navy on Saturday, Nov. 1. Quinnipiac's final home game of the 2014 season lands on Saturday, Nov. 8 when the Bobcats host West Chester University at 12 p.m. in Hamden, Conn., with Senior Day festivities set for prior to the start of the game.
