HAMDEN, Conn. – Sophomore Elisa Cuellar (Palm Bay, Fla.) carried the Bobcats to a 94-0 victory over the Hawks of New Paltz on Sunday, Sept. 16 on the QU Rugby Field in Hamden, Conn. With the win Quinnipiac posts its largest margin of victory in program history, besting its 91-point win against Binghamton a week ago.
Cuellar led the pack with 20 points for the Bobcats off of four tries and eight runs over twenty yards. Senior, Megan Hannemann (Manchester, N.H) and sophomore Shannon Durkin (Oakland, Calif) added two tries apiece to combine for 20 points. Senior Krystin Orrico (Cranford, N.J.) and junior Allison Gnys (Cumberland, R.I.) were 7-for-16 in conversion points adding to the Bobcats margin of victory.
Freshmen Tesni Phillips (Cheshire, Conn.) and Devon Vieira (Kent, Wash.), sophomores Raechel Stimson (Cameron Park, Calif.) and Jennifer Salomon(Paramus, N.Y.), juniors Melissa Condo(Hull, Mass.) and Gnys and seniors Jacqueline Maclearie (Tinton Falls, N.J) and Nancy Dunn(Moscow, Pa.) all combined for one try each.
Senior Colleen Doherty (Ashburnham, Mass.), Salomon and Cuellar accounted had two assists each for Quinnipiac.
The Bobcats head to Vassar next Sunday to take on the Brewers in a conference matchup on September 23, at Vassar Farm in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Then the Bobcats head home to face Marist on September 30 at 1 p.m. on the QU Rugby Field on the Mount Carmel Campus in Hamden, Conn.
