Hamden, Conn– Quinnipiac Women's lacrosse head coach Danie Caro and the Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse team recently announced their 2014 Schedule. The Bobcats have 15 games on their regular season schedule for the 2014 season. The spring slate includes marquee match-ups against three 2013 NCAA Tournament participants.
"We have a very difficult schedule this year, as we open the season with three games on the road at UConn, Albany and then Yale," Caro said. "I'm very excited for the season to start. This might be the toughest schedule that we've had in my nine years at Quinnipiac."
Seven of the 15 contests will be at the Quinnipiac University Turf Field, home of the women's lacrosse program. QU's MAAC matches are split between four on the road and four at home.
The opening game will feature strong opposition as the Bobcats travel to Storrs to take on UConn on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. The Huskies finished 13-5 last season and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
On March 1st, the Bobcats will then head to Albany to take on the Great Danes. Quinnipiac will then travel down Whitney Avenue to take on Yale on Friday, Mar. 7th at 4 PM.
Quinnipiac will have their home opener on Sunday, Mar. 9th against Hofstra at 1:00 pm. This will be the first of a three game home stand. The Bobcats will host Vermont on Wed. March 12 at 3:00 pm and Bryant on Thursday,Mar. 20 at 3:00 pm.
Following the home stand Quinnipiac will travel to Binghamton for their final non-conference road game of the season on Sunday, Mar. 23 at 1 PM.
Quinnipiac will have their inaugural MAAC game on Saturday,Mar. 29 when they host Manhattan College at 1:00 PM. They will then travel to a familiar foe in Monmouth on Apr. 2nd at 3:00 PM.
Quinnipiac will then host three straight conference games when they host defending conference champ Canisius on Sun April 6 at 12:00 pm, Iona on Wednesday, Apr. 9 at 3:00 pm, and Marist on Sunday, April 13 at 12:00 pm.
Quinnipiac will wrap their conference slate with three straight road games. They will travel to in-state rival Fairfield on Wednesday, Apr. 16 at 3:00 pm, they will head to Loudonville, NY to take on Siena on Saturday, Apr. 19 at 1:00 pm, and will wrap up their season on Sunday, Apr. 27 at Niagara at 12:00 pm.
The top four teams of the eight-school league will earn a spot in the MAAC Tournament. The semifinals are scheduled for Friday, May 2nd with the finals to occur on Sunday, May 4. The tournament will be held on the campus of Canisius College.
