HAMDEN, Conn. – Sophomore Samantha Tilts (Port Washington, N.Y.) of the Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team was named the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced on Monday March 11, 2013. The Port Washington, N.Y. native was instrumental for the Bobcats, leading the team to two non-conference wins on the road.
"Sam had a really good week for us," said head coach Danie Caro. "Not only was she a very good ball-stopper, making big saves when we needed her to, but she did a good job initiating our offensive transition."
Tilts guided the Bobcats to back-to-back road wins at Iona and Vermont, combining for 25 saves and posting a weekly save percentage of 52 percent. In a 13-12 overtime win at Iona, she stopped 13 of 25 shots on goal. Tilts then posted 12 saves in a 12-11 victory at Vermont. Through four games, she owns a 2-2 record with a .431 save percentage.
The Bobcats will return to action with a visit to intrastate rival Fairfield University on Tuesday March 12th in Fairfield, Conn. Action will begin at 3 p.m. on Lessing Field in Fairfield, Conn.
