HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's lacrosse junior attacker Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) has been named Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday, March 26. The selection, which marks Allen's first of her career, comes following an amazing 19 point week in which the junior collected two goals and 17 assists in just three games played.
"I am so proud of Sarah and pleased that she has received this recognition," said head coach Danie Caro. "Oftentimes in sports, only the finisher gets recognized. Sarah has benefitted from playing with great finishers, but her accomplishments as a playmaker cannot be overlooked. She has developed into our most consistent point producer this season."
Allen's statistical dream week began on Wednesday, March 21 against Vermont where she collected a game-high five assists during the team's 18-9 defeat. Allen then led the Bobcats to their first NEC victory of the season on Friday, March 23 with a game-high six points (one goal, five assists) during the team's 19-8 win over Wagner. On Sunday, March 25, Allen once again led the squad with an astounding eight points on one goal and seven assists (tying her career-high) during the team's 18-7 win over LIU Brooklyn.
The junior attacker now ranks second all-time in program history with 76 career assists, and leads the team with 30 assists and 33 points this season. Allen is also making a spash nationally, as she currently leads all NCAA Division I Women's lacrosse players in both assists and assists per game (4.29). The junior ranks first in both points per game (4.71) and assists per game in the NEC as well.
Allen and the Bobcats return to action on Friday, March 30 when they host Mount St. Mary's at 3 p.m. at QU Lacrosse Turf Field in Hamden, Conn.
