with the all-time series deadlocked, 7-7. Since 2008, the Bobcats
are 5-0 against the Mountaineers, including twice defeating Mount.
St. Mary's in the NEC Semifinals in back-to-back seasons ('08 and
'09). In their last meeting on April 3, 2010, Quinnipiac defeated
Mount St. Mary's 13-5. On senior day at Quinnipiac Field Hockey
& Lacrosse Turf Field, senior Katie Latonick tallied a
team-high six points (one goal, five assists) to lead Quinnipiac to
its fifth NEC victory of the season. Sophomore Devon Gibney
(Hopkinton, Mass.) and freshman Lianne Toomey (Hicksville, N.Y.)

contributed two goals apiece. Junior Lexi DeStefano (Brookfield,
Conn.) made 11 saves in net for the Bobcats.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac
defeated Long Island, 21-7, on Sunday, Apr. 17 in its final home
game of the regular season. The Bobcats were led by a pair of six
goal performers, junior Marissa Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y.) and
Gibney, as well as a seven assist outing by sophomore Sarah Allen
(Glastonbury, Conn.). Gibney also grabbed a game-high four ground
balls and four caused turnovers, while Caroleo and junior Jennifer
Skipper (Centerport, N.Y.) shared a team-high four draw controls.
DeStefano and junior Noelle Martello (Westbury, Conn.) each played
30 minutes in net and combined to make 11 saves overall.
Another Milestone
Reached
With six goals
scored on Sunday against Long Island, Marissa Caroleo eclipsed 100
points in her career, becoming the third player to do so this
season for the Bobcats. She finished the week with nine goals
scored (the second time she has accomplished this feat) to increase
her team-high goal total to 41. The six goals tied her season-high
mark, as it was the third game this season she has recorded a
double hat-trick in a game. She remains the NEC leader in goals per
game (3.15) and is third in points per game (3.54).
Repeat Record
Breaker
Sarah Allen had
her head on a swivel last week, dishing out nine assists in both
weekend games combined. Her second-consecutive nine assist week
resulted from a career-high seven assist outing on Sunday against
Long Island. Allen surpassed her previous career-high of six
assists, which was set just 11 days earlier in a 13-12 overtime
victory over Columbia. Allen's assist total is the most since Katie
Latonick collected eight assists in a 14-9 victory over Bryant on
April, 3, 2009. The sophomore currently leads both the team and all
NEC players in assists (26) and assists per game (2.00). Since her
six assists against Columbia, Allen has recorded an amazing 18
assists in just four games, averaging 4.5 assists per game during
that time-span. The Glastonbury native has recorded at least one
assist in eight-consecutive games.
Sitting Atop The
Conference
With a combined 11
saves on 15 shots in both weekend games, Martello catapulted
herself into first place among all NEC goalies in conference games,
lowering her goals against average to 7.77 and increasing her save
percentage to .554. As a defense overall, the Bobcats rank first
among all NEC team in conference goals against average
(8.29).
Gibney Finds
Her Growl
Gibney put
together another solid weekend for Quinnipiac, compiling seven
goals, five ground balls, five draw controls and five caused
turnovers over the weekend. She matched teammate Marissa Caroleo
with a team-high six goals in Sunday's game against Long Island,
marking the second time this season she has tallied six goals in a
game. The Hopkinton native also added a team-high four ground balls
and four caused turnovers, while also attaining three draw controls
in the win. In Friday's game against Wagner, she contributed one
goal, one ground ball, two draw controls and one caused turnover.
Overall, the junior ranks first on the team in draw controls (33),
tied for second in caused turnovers (15) and is tied for third in
overall points (34).
Crushing Defense
Kelly had another
strong week defensively for Quinnipiac, compiling five ground
balls, five draw controls and six caused turnovers over the
weekend. She also added her second goal of the season on Sunday
against Long Island. On Friday against Wagner, Kelly earned two
ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers. She
then collected three ground balls, three caused turnovers and two
draw controls on Sunday against Long Island. Kelly did well to shut
down her opponents, limiting Wagner's Leea Sinay and Long Island's
Katie Williams to a combined one point. Kelly is the team-leader in
caused turnovers (18) and is second in ground balls
(29).
Consistent
Production
Senior Christine
Sinnigen (Sudbury, Mass.) netted four goals and six assists in both
weekend games. She scored two goals and three assists in each game,
increasing her career-high numbers to 13 goals and 21 assists on
the year, which is tied for third overall on the team in total
points.
