Danie Caro Speaks At US Lacrosse National Convention

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse Head Coach Danie Caro recently spoke at the US Lacrosse National Convention in Baltimore, Md. The two-day convention featured speakers from across the country, including keynote speaker Cal Ripken Jr. Caro and US Lacrosse Women's Division Rules Committee Chair Pat Dillon presented a session entitled "Game is Decided By the Goal: Umpiring and Coaching the Crease" on Saturday, Jan. 17.

"It's important to learn how to see the game from another perspective," Caro said of the joint presentation. "Coaches and officials each tend to see the game from only their point of view, so these types of sessions help in seeing the big picture, which makes everyone better at what they do."

Caro also participated in the Recruiting Panel on Sunday morning. Over 160 high school coaches attended the program in which Caro was joined by college coaches Cathy Reese of Maryland, Muffie Bliss of McDaniel College and Dennis Short of Rollins College, along with two high school coaches, PJ Kesmodel and Krystin Porcella, to discuss the college recruiting process and offer tips on how to help their players.

"I love speaking at the convention," said Caro. "I believe it's important for college coaches to give back to the game and help the youth and high school coaches develop their skill sets as they prepare the next generation of collegiate players."

Quinnipiac begins its season on Wednesday, Mar. 4, when they host UConn. The Bobcats and Huskies square off at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf at 2:30 p.m.
