HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team will embark on a trip to Europe for additional practice time and competition against quality opponents in one month. The 10-day endeavor from August 13-23 will benefit a host of returning Bobcats as the team nears the start of the 2014-15 campaign.

In lieu of the much anticipated 2014 Europe Trip for the Quinnipiac University women's ice hockey team, staff, friends and fans, the 11-day (Aug. 13-23) travel itinerary from Eurosportours has been announced. The Bobcats will be residing in Italy for the entire 11-day stay with two games scheduled against the Swiss National Team and a Zurich Pro Team with Swiss National Team players. Among the many day trip highlights includes sight-seeing of Lake Como, Bellagio, Zurich, Venice and three days spent in Rome.

College ice hockey teams are allowed to participate in preseason international trips every four years and head coach Rick Seeley said the trip is a great opportunity to build team chemistry among his group of 19 returners from the 2013-14 squad that set the single-season program record with a 22-6-9 record to end the season, advanced to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals and was nationally ranked for 22 straight weeks.

"We are thrilled and excited to be part of a special opportunity to travel abroad this summer," Seeley said. "This trip represents an opportunity to grow together as a team and to really experience and observe a part of the world that we might not otherwise be able to. We are so thankful for this wonderful opportunity to enhance the academic experience at Quinnipiac."
