NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 7 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team was recently featured in a pair of local media affiliates, WTNH-TV Channel 8 and the New Haven Register, that both touched on the Bobcats' record-breaking season as well as the looming 2014 Women's Frozen Four which will be held from Hamden, Conn. at the TD Bank Sports Center.
Head coach Rick Seeley along with senior scoring leader Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) and senior assistant captain Shelby Wignall (Hamilton, Ontario) were all interviewed in the piece with WTNH-TV. Seeley has led the Bobcats to a 21-5-9 overall record and program-best 13-2-5 mark at home ice this season. Babstock's two points in last night's ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals game one victory over St. Lawrence moved her career point total up to 202 (94 goals, 108 assists) while Wignall has been one of the vocal leaders and has stepped up her play as the only upperclassmen among the team's core of six defensemen.
Seeley was also interviewed along with senior captain Amanda Colin (Burnsville, Minn.) and Quinnipiac Athletic Director Jack McDonald in the piece in the New Haven Register entitled "Quinnipiac hosting women's Frozen Four, and Bobcats may be there" written by sports staff writer Chris Hunn. The piece breaks down Quinnipiac's Frozen Four preparations as well as the great season ongoing for the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac is in action tonight in game two of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals against St. Lawrence with puck drop today slated for 4:00 pm.
