Quinnipiac Will Deliver Final Regular Season Home Weekend on ESPN3 With No. 10 Bobcats' Matchups Against Yale (Fri., Feb. 14, 7:00 PM) and Brown (Sat., Feb. 15, 4:00 PM)
HAMDEN, Conn. - Director of Athletics & Recreation Jack McDonald has announced an agreement to deliver Quinnipiac women's ice hockey events live on ESPN3. Quinnipiac and ESPN3 will produce the first game of its weekend schedule on Friday, Feb. 8 when the nationally-ranked No. 10 women's ice hockey team hosts Yale and will continue on Saturday, Feb. 15 for Quinnipiac's regular season home finale against Brown.
"Streaming our games on ESPN3 – a live multi-screen sports network is a huge benchmark for Quinnipiac University," McDonald said. "Having our men's and women's ice hockey and basketball games on ESPN3 is another tremendous step forward in gaining worldwide exposure for our athletic programs. We are very grateful to ESPN, the ECAC Hockey and especially the QU stream team for their work in providing Quinnipiac Athletics with the technology for this exciting venture."
In what is a landmark agreement, the coverage from the High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center will be Quinnipiac's first women's ice hockey games carried on a national affiliate in program history.
The Quinnipiac Bobcat Sports Network (QBSN), a student-run organization at Quinnipiac, will provide the play-by-play and color commentary for both games this weekend. As the flagship station for women's ice hockey at Quinnipiac, QBSN airs every home sporting event streamlined live across both video and radio outlets through the Quinnipiac Athletics website.
"It's truly an honor to have our QBSN broadcasters get to deliver on ESPN3," said QBSN President Kevin Noonan. "Just to have our name associated with such a great sports network like ESPN3 is great. Not only does this great opportunity allow our broadcasters to have their names associated with ESPN, but the women's ice hockey team will get to say they played on an ESPN network as well."
Quinnipiac will also be featured twice more as part of the MAAC agreement with ESPN3. The twin-bill from the TD Bank Sports Center on Thursday, Feb. 27 will feature the women's basketball team hosting Iona at 6 p.m. following by the men's basketball team against Siena at 8:30 p.m.
