HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team received recognition in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com Preseason Polls this week. The Bobcats picked up two points in the USA Today Poll and four in the USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll. This marks the fourth straight season in which the Bobcats have received points in both women's hockey Preseason Polls.
Reigning Division I champions Minnesota topped both polls with all but one first place vote secured in both versions. 2013 NCAA Semifinalist Boston College was the lone other team in the nation to be voted first as they earned one vote in each poll and took second place. Every major conference was well-represented throughout the Top-10 as three teams each from ECAC Hockey, Hockey East and WCHA were ranked in each Preseason Poll.
Picked to finish fourth in the ECAC Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll, Quinnipiac returns 16 from a 20-win squad a year ago. The Bobcats won a program record 13 games in conference play last season as they combined to finish the year 20-12-4 (13-6-3 ECAC Hockey). They earned the No. 4 seed in the ECAC Hockey Tournament in what was their fourth consecutive postseason appearance.
