Hockey Canada's Release
Hockey Canada National Women's U-22 Team Roster

CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada announced on Sunday the 13 players selected to join the 27 already chosen for the Canada's National Women's Team. Quinnipiac's junior forward Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) was one of the selected players coming from the National Development Team, which just recently finished their selection camp on Saturday. Kosta now will take part in Canada's National Women's Program Red-White Series from Aug. 21-24 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

Kosta was one of nine forwards, three defensemen and one goalie who were chosen following Canada's National Women's Development Team selection camp, held Aug. 9-17. The players participated in a series of drills, conditioning, and ultimately played a three-game intrasquad series. Kosta played significant minutes and was rewarded with two points (one goal, one assist) through the three game series. The point total was tied for third-most on her squad as both her points came in game two of the series as she assisted on a goal from Kelly Terry and then scored a power-play goal just over two minutes later.

A bevy of ECAC Hockey players join Kosta, as eight of the 13 chosen to stay on for the Red-White series play for the likes of Cornell, Clarkson, Dartmouth, Harvard and Princeton. Additionally, among the 40 total players initially invited to Canada's U-22 National Development Team Camp, 18 players will suit up for ECAC Hockey teams this fall, easily the most of any conference playing Division I women's hockey. The 40 remaining players will now be split into two teams for the Red-White series and will continue to be evaluated by Hockey Canada scouts throughout the 2013-14 season.
