Quinnipiac University's High Point Solutions Arena To Host Chinese Women's Ice Hockey National Team's 2014 Training Camp
Quinnipiac University’s High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center will be the training site for the 2014 Chinese Women’s Ice Hockey National Team. Team China will practice at High Point Solutions Arena from Aug. 29 through Sept. 19 and will face the Quinnipiac Women’s Ice Hockey team in an exhibition game on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m.

Women's Ice Hockey's Cassie Turner Named Head Coach of Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team
Hockey Canada has announced Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey’s associate head coach Cassie Turner has been named the head coach of Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team for the 2014-15 season. Turner is entering her seventh season as a member of the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey coaching staff and her fourth year since being promoted to the title of associate head coach. A longtime fixture within Hockey Canada’s program, Turner played for the National Women’s Under-22 Team from 1999-2003 and has served as an assistant for the U18 team since 2011.

Quinnipiac Women's Ice Hockey Announces Class of 2018
Quinnipiac University women's ice hockey head coach Rick Seeley, and his staff, have officially announced the signing of six players that'll suit up for the Bobcats in 2014-15. Alicia Barry (Hanson, Mass.), Shannon Cherpak (Enfield, Conn.), Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, N.Y.), Tori DeAngelis (Saunderstown, R.I.), Rachel Myette (Duxbury, Mass.) and Raquel Pennoyer (Rehoboth, Mass.) make up the Class of 2018. Quinnipiac is coming off its best season in program history with a 22-6-9 record. The Bobcats were nationally ranked the final 22 weeks of the 2013-14 season and advanced to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals.

Senior Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) and junior Borja Angoitia (Bilbao, Spain) were named the Female and Male Athletes of the Year on Sunday evening, as the Quinnipiac University Department of Athletics and Recreation hosted its annual Awards Banquet at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden. Senior Associate Athletic Director Billy Mecca and the Voice of the Bobcats Bill Schweizer served as the Masters of Ceremonies for the event.

Cassie Turner Wins Gold Medal With Team Canada, Defeating Team USA at 2014 U18 World Championships in Budapest
After a nerve-racking 1-0 overtime victory over Russia in the semifinals, Canada's Under-18 National Team dominated the United States with a gold medal victory, 5-1, in the 2014 U-18 World Championship. Quinnipiac women's ice hockey associate head coach Cassie Turner helped guide the Canadians through the tourney run as one of the assistant coaches, traveling back to Hamden with her gold medal in-hand.

Senior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) has been named to 2013-14 New England Division I Women's Ice Hockey All-Star Team, as announced by the committee on Wednesday, April 2. The recipients, consisting of six forwards, four defensemen and two goaltenders, were chosen by administrators and media members.

Kelly Babstock Named CCM/AHCA All-American; Becomes Program's First Ever to Receive Honor
Quinnipiac women's ice hockey's senior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario), the program's all-time scoring leader and catalyst for the last four seasons, can now call herself an All-American. The Bobcats' do-everything forward was named a 2013-14 CCM Hockey Women's Division I Second Team All-American after leading her team to the best season in program history with a 22-6-9 record and a trip to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals. Babstock was one of 12 players honored from a list that included six from the ECAC Hockey, four from the WCHA, and one each from the CHA and Hockey East.

No. 7 Women's Ice Hockey Bounced from ECAC Hockey Semifinals With 6-0 Loss to No. 2 Clarkson
The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team lost to Clarkson, 6-0, in the ECAC Hockey Semifinals from Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y. The Bobcats' record drops to 22-6-9 overall, good for the best single-season record in program history, while Clarkson advances to their first ECAC Hockey Championship Game and improve to 28-4-5 on the season.

Kelly Babstock Named to All-ECAC Hockey First Team
For the third time in her illustrious career, senior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) was named to All-ECAC Hockey First Team, as announced by the league at the Semifinal banquet hosted by Clarkson University. Babstock earns her fourth All-ECAC Hockey honor and is a First Team selection for the third time. She leads the team and ranks eighth in the country with 49 points (19 goals, 30 assists) in 36 games in 2013-14, became the first Quinnipiac women's ice hockey player to reach the 200 career point club and helped guide the Bobcats to an ECAC Hockey Semifinal appearance for just the third time in program history.

No. 4 Seed Quinnipiac Women's Ice Hockey Travels to No. 1 Clarkson in ECAC Hockey Semifinals on Saturday
A dominating defensive performance with plenty of offense sprinkled in helped the No. 7 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team earn a spot in the ECAC Hockey Semifinals. The Bobcats swept St. Lawrence from the High Point Solutions Arena in the Quarterfinals as they now will vie for their first trip to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals against the No. 1 seed and No. 3 nationally-ranked Clarkson Golden Knights. Quinnipiac is making their third ECAC Hockey Semifinal appearance in program history and will look to repeat the success the team had in their last meeting against the Golden Knights from Cheel Arena in the postseason where they dispatched Clarkson in the 2012 ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals in three games.

Following her 12 point outburst through eight games in the month of February, Quinnipiac women's ice hockey junior forward Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Month, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, March 5. The recognition for Darkangelo is her first career Player of the Month honor.

After sweeping St. Lawrence at home in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team managed to hold steady at No. 7 in the USCHO.com weekly poll, as announced on Monday, March 3. The Bobcats (22-5-9, 11-4-7 ECAC Hockey) are now entering their 19th straight week ranked in the Top 10 and will vie for their first ever trip to the ECAC Hockey Championships with a Semifinal matchup against No. 3 Clarkson on Saturday at 1:00 pm from Cheel Arena.

Chelsea Laden, Bobcat Defense Stands Tall for No. 7 Women's Ice Hockey in Series-Clinching Victory Over St. Lawrence, 2-1
It took every ounce of energy they had left but when all was said and done the No. 7 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team came away with a triumphant 2-1 series-clinching victory over St. Lawrence from High Point Solutions Arena. As the clock wound down under three minutes the Saints and Bobcats were both playing desperate hockey as St. Lawrence was flinging the puck towards the net at every opportunity while Quinnipiac was diving and sticking away at every loose puck trying to get a clear. In the end, a few timely blocks from the Bobcats and several big saves from junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) proved enough for the home team to advance to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals.

Darkangelo Pumps in Two Goals to Lead No. 7 Bobcats to 5-0 Shutout of St. Lawrence in Game One of ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals
The goals came from all angles on Friday night as the No. 7 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team pumped in five goals in a shutout effort over St. Lawrence, 5-0, from High Point Solutions Arena. Junior Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) continued her breakout season with three points (two goals, one assist) in her first postseason appearance as a member of the Bobcats. Junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) was outstanding in net, making a season-high 28 saves to post her eighth shutout of the season. Quinnipiac (21-5-9, 11-4-7 ECAC Hockey) will look to clinch the series tomorrow at 4:00 pm in game two of the best-of-three ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal series against the Saints (13-18-3, 12-7-3 ECAC Hockey).

The late season push for the No. 7 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team was recently featured in the New England Hockey Journal in a piece entitled “Women’s Journal: Bobcats know ties won't fly in playoffs” written by Arielle Aronson. The No. 4 seeded Bobcats (20-5-9, 11-4-7 ECAC Hockey) did what they needed to do, winning three straight to end the 2013-14 regular season, to clinch home ice for the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal best-of-three series against incoming No. 5 seed St. Lawrence (13-17-3, 12-7-3 ECAC Hockey).

Kelly Babstock Named Top 10 Finalist for Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award
Quinnipiac women's ice hockey senior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) was named as one of the 10 finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. An award of The USA Hockey Foundation, the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award is annually presented to the top player in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey. Selection criteria includes “outstanding individual and team skills, sportsmanship, performance in the clutch, personal character, competiveness and a love for hockey” in addition to academic achievement and civic involvement. Babstock becomes the first player in program history to ever have been named a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award.

No. 4 Seed Quinnipiac Women's Ice Hockey Hosts No. 5 St. Lawrence in ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal Series This Weekend
This weekend will feature the second straight home playoff series for the No. 4 seed Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team as well as the second straight year in which they will meet the No. 5 seed St. Lawrence Saints in the Quarterfinal round. The Bobcats controlled their own destiny last weekend and came through with four big points on the round to secure home ice over the Saints, whom they haven't beaten in two matchups this season (0-1-1). This is the fifth straight trip to the postseason for the Bobcats and their third time hosting a series in the opening round of the playoffs. They are still yet to win a home playoff series as St. Lawrence (2013) and Rensselaer (2010) both dispatched Quinnipiac at home in three games of their respective Quarterfinal series.

Quinnipiac women's ice hockey junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) has won her second ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week this season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Laden picks up the weekly honor after guiding the Bobcats to a road weekend sweep against then-No. 3 ranked Cornell and Colgate, the first ever for Quinnipiac playing against the Big Red and Raiders on the road.

On the heels of their big road weekend sweep of then-No. 3 ranked Cornell and Colgate, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team moved up two spots to the No. 7 ranking in the USCHO.com weekly poll, announced on Monday, Feb. 24. The No. 7 ranking is the highest the Bobcats have been ranked since Nov. 18 as they enter the ECAC Hockey Tournament with an overall record of 20-5-9 with a mark of 11-4-7 in ECAC Hockey competition.

Kelly Babstock Reaches 200-Point Milestone in No. 9/10 Bobcats' 3-0 Victory Over Colgate; QU Earns No. 4 Seed, Will Host No. 5 St. Lawrence in ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals
Needing a victory to secure home ice for the ECAC Hockey playoffs, the No. 9/10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey did just that and then some with a record-breaking day for senior Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) in a 3-0 win over Colgate on Saturday from Starr Rink. Babstock picked up an assist in the second period to record her 200th career point to become the first women's ice hockey player in Quinnipiac history to accomplish the feat. With the victory, the Bobcats (20-5-9, 11-4-7 ECAC Hockey) earn the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 St. Lawrence in a rematch of last year’s thrilling Quarterfinal series.

An incredible display of defense and skill helped keep the game close before senior Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) did what she's done her entire career and made the plays when her team needed them the most. Trailing 1-0 heading into the third period, the No. 9/10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team stormed back for one of their biggest wins in program history over No. 3 Cornell, 2-1, in front of a packed crowd at Lynah Rink on Friday. The No. 3 ranked Cornell represent the highest-ranked opponent Quinnipiac has ever beaten and it also represents their first victory at Lynah Rink since Nov. 18, 2006. The Bobcats' record breaking victory bumps their record up to 19-5-9 (10-4-7 ECAC Hockey) while they snap the nation’s second-longest winning streak at six games as the Big Red fall to 20-4-4 (15-2-3 ECAC Hockey).

Uden Johansson Scores for Team Sweden But Swedes Fall to Switzerland in Bronze Medal Game, 4-3
Quinnipiac women's ice hockey forward Erica Uden Johansson's (Sundsvall, Sweden) snipe shot goal in the second period put Team Sweden up 2-0 on Thursday but a third period Switzerland rally ended in a 4-3 loss to the Swiss in the bronze medal match at the Bolshoy Ice Dome. With the loss, the Swedes leave Sochi with a fourth place finish, their second such result in as many Olympic competitions.

No. 9/10 Women's Ice Hockey Closes Out Regular Season at No. 3 Cornell and Colgate
With just two games remaining, the No. 9/10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team has the power to control their own destiny this weekend as three points or better would guarantee them the No. 4 seed and home ice in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals. In order to get three or four points, the Bobcats will need to do something they haven’t done since early November and that's come away with an undefeated weekend on the road. The good news for the Bobcats is they've already had great success against their respective opponents this season as they shutout Colgate back on Nov. 1, 6-0, and controlled play against the then-No. 3 ranked Cornell with the game ending in a 1-1 tie. With the Bobcats guaranteed at least the No. 5 seed, every point will be crucial in them trying to get back to the High Point Solutions Arena where they have already finished with their best home record in program history (12-2-5).

The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team moved up one spot to No. 9 in the USCHO.com Division I poll released on Monday, February 17. The Bobcats spent last week at No. 10 but now earn the No. 9 ranking after earning three points over their home weekend series against Yale and Brown. Quinnipiac is now entering their 17th straight week ranked in the USCHO Top 10 as they currently sit 18-5-9 (9-4-7 ECAC Hockey).

Sweden, Uden Johansson Fall to Team USA, 6-1; Swedes Play Switzerland for Olympic Bronze on Thursday 7:00 AM on NBCSN
Quinnipiac women's ice hockey forward Erica Uden Johansson's (Sundsvall, Sweden) hope for a goal medal were dashed on Monday as Team Sweden fell to Team USA, 6-1, in the Semifinals at the Olympics. Sweden will play Switzerland, which lost to Canada, 3-1, in the other Semifinal match, for the bronze medal at 7:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) Thursday on NBC Sports Network. The U.S. and Canada will play for gold on Thursday at Noon Eastern.

Senior Class Stars in Regular Season Home Finale, Leading No. 10 Women's Ice Hockey Past Brown, 5-0
The six senior members certainly made a lasting final impression in front of a season-high home crowd of 977 as the No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team shutout Brown, 5-0, on Saturday from High Point Solutions Arena. Four Bobcat seniors found their names on the score sheet at the game’s end while senior goalie Ashley Winslow (Portland, Maine) came off the bench and was greeted by a resounding applause for what was the senior's first career appearance. Quinnipiac broke a four-game winless streak as they improve to 18-5-9 (9-4-7 ECAC Hockey) while Brown drops to 4-18-5 (3-14-3 ECAC Hockey).

Team Sweden Uses Four Third Period Goals to Upset Finland, 4-2; Uden Johansson, Sweden Takes on Team USA in Semifinals on Monday 7:30 AM on NBCSN
Team Sweden's four third period goals helped earn them a shot against Team USA in the medal round of the 2014 Sochi Olympics as they took down Finland, 4-2, in an upset Quarterfinal victory on Saturday. Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey forward Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden) put three shots on former University of Minnesota goalie Noora Raty to help spark the come-from-behind victory over Finland. Sweden now advances to the medal round where they will take on Team USA in what will be a rematch of their 2006 Semifinal meeting wherein Team Sweden knocked off the United States, 3-2, to advance to the goal medal match. Sweden’s game against Team USA is slated for Monday at 7:30 a.m. (Eastern), televised on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN).

Playing in the final regular season home games in her illustrious career, senior Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) reminded the Bobcat fans just how important she's been as her tally with 1:05 remaining in the third helped No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey to a 3-3 tie against Yale on Friday. The goal for Babstock salvaged one point for the Bobcats as they took an early 2-0 lead but three unanswered Bulldog goals sent the home team into a frenzy in the last four minutes, eventually securing the game-tying tally. Quinnipiac posted their nation-leading ninth tie of the season as they move to 17-5-9 (8-4-7 ECAC Hockey) while Yale’s record stands at 7-13-6 (5-8-6 ECAC Hockey).

In a battle of Sochi Group B unbeatens, the Russians broke Team Sweden's shutout streak and claimed the victory with three goals on Thursday in front of staggering home crowd for the host nation. Despite the loss, Team Sweden still advances to the Quarterfinal round with a 2-1 record in Group B play as they will take on the No. 3 seed Finland on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. (Eastern) on MSNBC.

Director of Athletics & Recreation Jack McDonald has announced an agreement to deliver Quinnipiac women's ice hockey events live on ESPN3. Quinnipiac and ESPN3 will produce the first game of its weekend schedule on Friday, Feb. 8 when the nationally-ranked No. 10 women's ice hockey team hosts Yale and will continue on Saturday, Feb. 15 for Quinnipiac’s regular season home finale against Brown.

Quinnipiac is already guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, as they can fall no lower than the seventh seed, but they sit just one point ahead of St. Lawrence (21 points) and two ahead of Princeton (19 points) as those three teams are all in the running for the No. 4 seed and final team that is guaranteed home ice in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals. Now in comes the Yale Bulldogs and Brown Bears for the final home weekend series of the regular season for Quinnipiac as the team will honor the six seniors before the starts of Saturday’s game against Brown. Among the Class of 2014 includes Kelly Babstock, Olivia Brackett, Amanda Colin, Elena Orlando, Shelby Wignall and Ashley Winslow as the Bobcats will look to end the final home game of the 2013-14 regular season on a high note.

Quinnipiac women's ice hockey forward Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden) faced Team Germany as a member of Team Sweden on Tuesday and helped lead her team to a 4-0 victory over Germany. Sweden picked up their second straight victory in Group B pool play, having defeated Japan 1-0 on Sunday. Quinnipiac women's ice hockey's and two-time Olympian Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden) was recently highlighted by NBC Connecticut in a video feature in preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Uden Johansson was recently chosen among a group of 21 players on Jan. 21, 2014 to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics for Team Sweden. This will be her second appearance as a member of Team Sweden in the Olympics as she also competed in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

Quinnipiac women's ice hockey forward Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden) made her 2014 Olympic debut Sunday, skating for her native Sweden in an opening round game against Japan. Uden Johansson made an immediate impact with her National Team as she registered a team and game-high four shots in the Swedes' 1-0 victory over Japan in Group B opening round action from the 2014 Sochi Olympics. No. 8/9 Women's Ice Hockey Rallies Back From Two-Goal Deficit to Tie No. 3 Clarkson, 3-3; Colin Notches Career-High Three Points
The game appeared to be going in the Golden Knights favor after 40 minutes but a furious third period rally brought No. 8/9 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey back from a 3-1 deficit to tie No. 3 ranked Clarkson, 3-3, from Cheel Arena on Friday night. Goals from senior Amanda Colin (Burnsville, Minn.) and junior Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) quickly erased the two-goal deficit less than four minutes into the third period and the Bobcat defense behind some key saves late from junior Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) helped Quinnipiac earn a tie against the highest ranked team in the ECAC Hockey. The Bobcats’ pick up their nation-leading eighth tie of the season and third against Top 5 teams to bring their record to 17-4-8 and 8-3-6 in the ECAC Hockey while the Golden Knights move to 21-4-5 (12-2-3 ECAC Hockey).

No. 8/9 Women's Ice Hockey Ships to Upstate New York for Matchups Against No. 3 Clarkson and St. Lawrence
The past few seasons, this weekend road trip for the No. 8/9 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team has only added in its significance to all three teams involved and the 2013-14 season is certainly no different. The Bobcats will travel eight hours to upstate New York where they will take on a pair of opponents who both hold the key to postseason positioning. The weekend’s first game will pit Quinnipiac against the one of the hottest teams in college hockey in the No. 3 Clarkson Golden Knights. Currently riding a 10-game unbeaten streak (9-0-1), Clarkson enters the weekend as the highest-ranked ECAC Hockey team and with the hottest player in the country in Jamie Lee Rattray who has amassed 12 points in her last four games. St. Lawrence, meanwhile, sits two points behind Quinnipiac in fifth place in the ECAC Hockey standings. With their first meeting back in November ending in a 1-1 tie, a win on Saturday would give the team two points as well as a crucial tiebreaker should these two sides be tied for conference points at the end of the season. With only six games remaining in the regular season, every game takes on an added significance and this weekend certainly is no different than the rest.

The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey made a concerted effort to give back on Sunday, Jan. 19 as a strong contingent of Bobcats made a trip down to the East Haven Veterans Memorial Rink to hold an instructional clinic for members of the Shoreline Sharks youth hockey league. The community service event was part of Quinnipiac's Positive Play initiative to encourage their student-athletes, coaches and staff members to volunteer and give back to the surrounding communities.

For the third time this season, Quinnipiac freshman forward Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) picked up the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014. Woods' third Rookie of the Week honor moves her past Nicole Kosta and she now stands behind only Kelly Babstock for the most Rookie weekly distinctions in program history. In front of a season-high crowd of 721 from High Point Solutions Arena, the No. 9 Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team picked up a 2-2 tie against No. 3/5 and the ECAC Hockey's first place Harvard Crimson. Junior Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) proved vital in the Bobcats picking up a crucial point in the conference standings with two points (one goal, one assist) on two Quinnipiac goals. The decision on Saturday marks the highest-ranked opponent Quinnipiac has tied in their program history while they also break up Harvard's season-high five game winning streak. The Bobcats' nation-leading seventh tie of the season moves them to 17-4-7 (8-3-5 ECAC Hockey) while the Crimson remain in first place in the conference at 17-2-3 (13-2-2 ECAC Hockey).

An early deficit on Friday night didn't faze the No. 9 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team as they rallied back and earned a 3-1 victory over Dartmouth in ECAC Hockey action. The Big Green found the back of the net first, midway through the second period but three unanswered goals helped lift Quinnipiac to their eight conference victory, 17th of the season and 100th in five-plus seasons for the Bobcats’ head coach Rick Seeley. He becomes the first head coach in program history to reach the 100-win milestone as his team improves to 17-4-6 (8-3-4 ECAC Hockey) in 2013-14 while Dartmouth falls to 7-14-1 (6-9-1 ECAC Hockey).

The nationally-ranked No. 10 Quinnipiac University and No. 8 Robert Morris University women's ice hockey teams skated to a 1-1 tie through overtime at the High Point Solutions Arena from the TD Bank Sports Center on Friday evening. Sophomore Cydney Roesler (Stittsville, Ontario) found the back of the net for just the second time in her career while junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) was solid in net with 21 saves to preserve the Bobcats' nation-leading sixth tie of the season. With the result, the Bobcats move to 16-3-6 overall while the Colonials go to 18-3-2 on the year. The non-conference foes will take the ice tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the backend of the two-game set.

After salvaging a split in last weekend's road series against Rensselaer and Union, the No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team will now take on their biggest non-conference series of the season as they welcome in the No. 8 Robert Morris Colonials to High Point Solutions Arena. The Bobcats picked up their 16th win of the season in a 1-0 victory over Union on Saturday but now are set to face a completely different animal in Robert Morris, who has the second-most victories (18) of any team in the country. With both squads looking to improve their positioning in the PairWise rankings, these two contests will be crucial for either team looking to gain some potential at-large consideration. This series could also be a memorable one for head coach Rick Seeley as one more victory will give him 100 in his Quinnipiac career.

This will be Uden Johansson's second appearance as a member of Team Sweden in the Olympics as she also competed in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Sweden will first hit the ice in Group B prelim action against Japan on Sunday, February 9 followed by a bout against Germany on Feb. 11 and host Russia on Feb. 13.

Amanda Colin Bangs Home the Game-Winner Late in the Third to Lift No. 10 Women's Ice Hockey Past Union, 1-0
Overtime seemed imminent throughout the first 55-plus minutes in this Saturday afternoon affair between the No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team and Union. The Bobcats flew in shot after shot on Union’s defensive end to no avail, even a would-be Quinnipiac was taken away by the referees upon review. The scoreless draw appeared ready to go into extra minutes; that was until the Bobcats' senior captain Amanda Colin (Burnsville, Minn.) lifted her team with the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Union from Frank L. The No. 7/8 nationally-ranked Bobcats earned their way to the 2013 Nutmeg Classic Championship after an 8-0 victory over RIT in their First Round showdown on Friday helped seal their fate into a title matchup against Yale on Saturday at 4 pm. Quinnipiac made their way here with a domination of the Tigers, the likes of which haven't been achieve by the program for quite some time. Both the offensive and defensive units had significant days all across the board as they now move on to try and claim their fourth Nutmeg Classic Championship (third in four years).

No. 7/8 Women's Ice Hockey Plays Host to the 10th Annual Nutmeg Classic, Will Play RIT in First Round on Friday
The No. 7/8 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team will play host to the 10th annual Nutmeg Classic this weekend from High Point Solutions Arena. The annual tradition gathers the three schools out of the Nutmeg State (UConn, Yale, and Quinnipiac) to compete in a tournament along with one other regional program (RIT) that changes every year. The Bobcats will be looking to claim their fourth title as they will face the Tigers in the First Round on Friday at 4 pm. UConn will be in search for their fifth championship while Yale has advanced to the Championship Game more than any other team (seven) but has claimed only one title. The winner of the Yale vs. UConn game will play the winner of the game between the Tigers and Bobcats on Saturday at 4 pm while the two teams that lose in the First Round will square off in the Consolation Game on Saturday at 1 pm.

The Bobcats' second 65 minute duel in three games proved taxing on the skaters but Quinnipiac picked up a crucial point in the conference standings as they keep hold of the fifth spot in the ECAC Hockey. Quinnipiac's record moves to 10-2-5 (3-2-4 ECAC Hockey) while the Tigers jump to 5-4-2 (4-4-1 ECAC Hockey).

No. 8 Women's Ice Hockey Travels Down to NJ to Challenge Travel Parnter Princeton in Tuesday Night ECAC Hockey Showdown
After a tough weekend home series the No. 8 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team will be taking on their travel partner Princeton on Tuesday night from Hobey Baker Memorial Rink. This crucial conference showdown will be the first meeting between both sides and looms large in the ECAC Hockey standings as the Bobcats (5th) are separated by just one point from the Tigers (6th). Quinnipiac has the advantage in recent history as they come in riding a six-game winning streak against Princeton as the Tigers haven't beaten the Bobcats since Jan. 3, 2011. This weekday matchup is the first for the Bobcats all season and also marks their 20th all-time meeting against their regional rival.

The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team earned the No. 8 national ranking in the USCHO.com weekly poll announced on Monday, November 25. After a pair of sensational outings two weekends ago, Quinnipiac women's ice hockey junior forward Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) was featured in her hometown newspaper the Livingston Daily. Darkangelo was one for the heroics as she knocked home the game-winning goal to lift her team to a 3-2 victory over then-No. 5 ranked Boston College.

The No. 5/6 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team fell to No. 8 Clarkson, 3-0, on Saturday from High Point Solutions Arena. The Bobcats did their best to limit a potent offense in the Golden Knights' attack but couldn’t fight them off as two power-play goals and a 23 save shutout from two-time reigning ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the year Erica Howe helped lift Clarkson past Quinnipiac. The Bobcats' eight game unbeaten streak was snapped while their record falls to 10-2-4 (3-2-3 ECAC Hockey) and Clarkson jumps to 12-3-2 (5-2-1 ECAC Hockey).

No. 5/6 Women's Ice Hockey and Saint Lawrence Skate to 1-1 Tie
Both goalies were on their game on Friday as the No. 5/6 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team and St. Lawrence played to a 1-1 tie from High Point Solutions Arena. In their first meeting since the Saints knocked the Bobcats out of the 2013 ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals, play was up-and-down at a furious pace but each team’s goalie was up to the task throughout. The Bobcats put 47 shots on the Saints' goalie Carmen MacDonald but only one snuck through while junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) stonewalled 24-of-25 shots to help Quinnipiac walk away with one point. Quinnipiac extends their unbeaten streak to eight games, improving their record to 10-1-4 (3-1-3 ECAC Hockey) while St. Lawrence moves to 5-7-1 (4-2-1 ECAC Hockey).

In what amounted to a near mirror image of the No. 7/9 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team’s performance from a night ago, the Bobcats came-from-behind with a late third period game-winner to defeat New Hampshire, 2-1. Junior Morgan Fritz-Ward (Mason City, Iowa) sent the home Bobcat faithful home happy with a wrister on a breakaway that found the back of the net and gave Quinnipiac their first ever win over the Wildcats (1-8-1 all-time). The win pushes the Bobcats' unbeaten streak to seven games (5-0-2) and keeps them undefeated from High Point Solutions Arena (5-0-1) on the season. In a game that saw the first shorthanded goal of the season and the first penalty shot since 2008, it seemed only fitting the No. 9/10 nationally-ranked women's ice hockey team and No. 3 Cornell ended in a 1-1 tie on Saturday from High Point Solutions Arena. Junior Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) netted her first career shorthanded goal in the second period but Cornell's Emily Fulton converted a penalty shot, the first allowed by the Bobcats since 2008, more than halfway through the third period to knot the score at 1-1. Both sides played through a scoreless overtime period as Quinnipiac moves to 7-1-2 (2-1-1 ECAC Hockey) and Cornell’s (5-0-1, 3-0-1 ECAC Hockey) five game winning streak snapped on Saturday.

The No. 9/10 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team littered the stat sheet with six different goal scorers in their 6-0 domination of Colgate from High Point Solutions Arena on Friday. Each member of the Bobcats' top offensive line lit the lamp once while a pair of sophomore defenders each scored their first career goal. The offensive effort combined with a solid night in net from junior goalie Chelsea Laden (20 saves) as she notched her nation-leading fourth shutout of the season. ECAC Hockey Home Opening Weekend Against Colgate and No. 3 Cornell Up Next for No. 9/10 Women's Ice Hockey
Continuing their best start in program history, the No. 9/10 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team return home for an ECAC Hockey weekend series against Colgate and No. 3 Cornell. The Bobcats come into this weekend riding high as the team is off to their best start ever at 6-1-1 after earning a hard fought split last weekend at No. 7 Harvard and Dartmouth. After falling to the Crimson, 4-2, the Bobcats picked up a heart-wrenching 4-2 win from Thompson Arena in which the team nursed a one-goal lead throughout the third period and managed to kill off a Big Green power play with less than three minutes left. The last time Quinnipiac hosted this series was back in February 2013 and on that Friday, Feb. 8 the Bobcats stunned Cornell, 4-1, to pick up their first home victory ever over the Big Red.

For the second consecutive week, the Quinnipiac men's and women's ice hockey teams are ranked in the USCHO.com national poll. The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team (6-1) jumped up two spots from No. 9 to No. 7 in the weekly poll, their highest ranking of the season, while the women's ice hockey team (6-1-1) enters their second straight week ranked No. 9. This marks the first time in the University's history that both schools have been nationally-ranked in consecutive weeks. They join Minnesota, North Dakota and Boston College as the only hockey programs in the nation to have both their men’s and women’s teams ranked in the Top 10.

In a back-and-forth seesaw affair between the No. 8/9 nationally ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team, the Bobcats earned a hard fought 4-2 victory from Thompson Arena on Saturday. The Bobcat defensive unit killed off a Dartmouth power play with less than three minutes remaining to clinch the victory while senior Kelly Babstock (two goals, one assist) supplied the scoring for Quinnipiac in their first ECAC Hockey win of the season. The road team improves to 6-1-1 (1-1 ECAC Hockey) while Dartmouth remains winless at 0-3 (0-2 ECAC Hockey).

The No. 8/9 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to the No. 7 ranked Harvard Crimson from Bright-Landry Hockey Center on Friday night. The Bobcats held the Crimson scoreless for the first and third periods but four goals in less than a 10 minute span in the second proved too much to overcome despite the Bobcats outshooting the Crimson, 21-18 for the game. Quinnipiac's six-game unbeaten streak comes to an end as they fall to 5-1-1 (0-1-0 ECAC Hockey) on the year while Harvard wins its season opener as they stand 1-0-0 (1-0-0 ECAC Hockey).

Off to their best start in program history, the No. 8/9 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team will get their first big test of the season with a road ECAC Hockey weekend series at No. 7 Harvard and Dartmouth. The Bobcats have not fared well in their all-time series against either squad on the road including last year where the team went winless, falling to Dartmouth 5-2 and Harvard 4-0, in their weekend road series last season. Quinnipiac, however, comes into this weekend with all sorts of momentum as the team owns a record of 5-0-1 and just achieved their highest ranking (No. 8 in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll) in program history.

Just one day removed from tying their highest ranking ever in the USCHO.com weekly poll, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team did one better as they earned the No. 8 ranking in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. The Bobcats' No. 8 national ranking is their highest ever in any poll in program history. Quinnipiac earned 40 points in the poll, also a program record, as they now look ahead to a tough weekend road slate against ECAC Hockey perennial powers in No. 7 Harvard and Dartmouth.

Kelly Babstock (POW) and Emma Woods (ROW) Win ECAC Hockey Weekly Awards
Another week and another two individual honors for the No. 9 ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team as the ECAC Hockey league office made their announcement of weekly winners on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Senior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) took down the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week award while freshman forward Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) claimed the Rookie of the Week honors. This marks the third straight week a Quinnipiac player has won a weekly award as well as the third straight time a Bobcats has won Rookie of the Week. No other team in the ECAC Hockey has won Rookie of the Week three straight weeks since Harvard back in 2009 where they won it three straight weeks from Nov. 16 – Nov. 30.

After sweeping their weekend series with Maine in their first appearance as a nationally-ranked team this season, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team vaulted up a spot in the USCHO.com weekly poll to No. 9 in the country. The Bobcats earned 31 points in the poll released on Monday, Oct. 21, represent the most points accumulated by Quinnipiac in a weekly poll in its program history. The No. 9 ranking also represents the highest the team has been ranked since Oct. 3, 2011.

Coming into the weekend with one goal this season, the No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey’s all-time leading scorer was certainly overdue and it paid off in a big way on Saturday in the Bobcats’ 5-2 victory over Maine. Senior Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) erupted with three goals, the last of which being the 80th of her career, to finish with her fifth career hat trick. Four goals in the second period proved vital for the nationally-ranked Bobcats on Saturday from Alfond Arena. With the victory, No. 10 Quinnipiac (5-0-1) is now off to their best six-game start to a season in program history while Maine (0-3-1) remains winless on the year.

Strong special teams play and steady goaltending proved to be the difference for No. 10 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey in their 4-0 win over Maine. The Bobcats found the net three times on the power play to give them six goals on the man advantage in their last three contests. Junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) was stellar in net once again, posting her second straight shutout with 20 saves in her winning effort. Quinnipiac extends their unbeaten streak to five games as they improve to 4-0-1 while Maine remains winless at 0-2-1.

Just two weeks removed from their 1500 mile trek to Minnesota for the St. Cloud State series, the No. 10 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team will bus nearly 400 miles up to Orono, Maine to take on the Black Bears this weekend from Alford Arena. This meeting also marks the fourth straight year in which these two sides will play one another and the first trip back to Maine since the 2010-11 season for the Bobcats. The games this weekend will also mark the Bobcats' first appearance with the No. 10 national ranking as they surged into the Top-10 of each national poll earlier this week.

Questions and answers will be featured on the High Point Solutions Arena's newly installed, high-definition scoreboards during every women's ice hockey home game this season.

Women's Ice Hockey's Meghan Turner Wins ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week Honors
The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team made it two-for-two this season as freshman Meghan Turner (Bedford, N.H.) was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013. Turner wins her first career weekly award as she continues to play impressive all-around hockey for the No. 10 nationally-ranked Bobcats (3-0-1) as they head into their third week of the 2013-14 season.

Women's Ice Hockey Surges into USCHO.com and USA Hockey Magainze Poll Top-10 as Bobcats Earn No. 10 National Ranking
After receiving votes for the first three weeks of the season, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey cracked the USCHO.com Women’s Division I Poll as the Bobcats earned the No. 10 ranking on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013. This marks the first time Quinnipiac has been ranked since Oct. 3, 2011 and the latest point in the season in which they’ve been ranked since Jan. 29, 2011.

Four Different Bobcats Score as Women's Ice Hockey Blanks Penn State, 4-0; Chelsea Laden (14 Saves) Posts Third Career Shutout
Quinnipiac's work on the offensive and defensive end was rewarded on Saturday as the women's ice hockey team shutout the Penn State Nittany Lions, 4-0, from High Point Solutions Arena. The Bobcats were lifted by four different goal scorers who combined with goalie Chelsea Laden (12 saves) for the junior’s third career shutout and second in the team’s first four games of the season. With the non-conference victory, the Bobcats remain undefeated at 3-0-1 while Penn State falls to 1-2-1 for the season.

Shiann Darkangelo Scores Twice To Lead Women's Ice Hockey to 5-1 Win Over Penn State
The home Bobcat crowd got their first glimpse at junior transfer Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) and she did not disappoint with two goals, including the power-play game-winner, to lead Quinnipiac past Penn State, 5-1. Transferring in from Syracuse over the summer, Darkangelo pumped in the third multi-goal game of her career and first two tallies as a Bobcat. Quinnipiac takes the victory over the Nittany Lions in their first all-time meeting as the Bobcats remain undefeated at 2-0-1 while Penn State falls to 1-1-1.

Women's Ice Hockey Receiving Points in Both USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com Weekly Polls
The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team climbed up the standings as they received five points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll and eight points in the USCHO.com weekly poll. This is the highest number of votes the Bobcats have received in either poll through three weeks of the season voting. They currently stand less than ten points away from being nationally ranked in either poll.

Bobcats Set for Home Opener Against Penn State in First All-Time Meeting This Weekend; Live YouTube Stream Available

Emma Woods and Chelsea Laden Claim ECAC Hockey Weekly Awards
After just one week of the regular season, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team scored a pair of individual honors in the ECAC Hockey’s weekly awards announcement, made by the league office on Tues., Oct. 8. Freshman forward Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) picked up the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week while junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) earned the Goalie of the Week award. It was the first such award in each of the Bobcats' young careers.

Women's Ice Hockey Scores Three Unanswered Goals in Final Eight Minutes, Earns 3-1 Victory over St. Cloud State
The top line for the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team combined to pump in three unanswered goals within the final eight minutes to lead a come-from-behind, 3-1, victory over the St. Cloud State Huskies from Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Freshman Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) scored the first two goals of her career, including the game-winner, in the final five minutes to help secure Quinnipiac’s first victory of the season. The Bobcats’ record moves to 1-0-1 on the season while the Huskies drop to 0-1-1.

Quinnipiac Ties St. Cloud State, 0-0 (OT), Amanda Colin Nets Shoot-out Winner
After 65 minutes of battling for loose pucks, close calls at the net and stalwart goaltending, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team's season-opener at St. Cloud State ended in a tie, 0-0. The Bobcats did, however, defeat St. Cloud State, 3-2, in a shoot-out, with the game-winning goal coming from local product senior Amanda Colin (Burnsville, Minn.).

2013-14 Season Opens This Weekend for Women's Ice Hockey at St. Cloud State from Herb Brooks National Hockey Center
Building off last season's success, the Quinnipiac women's' ice hockey team continues to make strides and rise to the top of college hockey. The new year brings back some familiar faces and eight new ones as the Bobcats will start their 2013-14 season this weekend at St. Cloud State. The two game series between the two teams marks the beginning of the regular season for both squads in addition to the grand opening of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, home of the Huskies. The 5,763 seat arena recently underwent a renovation and was newly renamed in April 2013 in honor of former St. Cloud State and U.S. Olympic coach Herb Brooks.

After a lengthy offseason, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team ringed in the new year with a 3-1 exhibition victory over Guelph from High Point Solutions Arena on Saturday. Special teams play proved the difference for Quinnipiac as two power-play goals in the third period resulted in the go-ahead and game-clinching tallies for the Bobcats. Quinnipiac now has one more week of preparation before their season-opening trip out to St. Cloud State where they will take on the WCHA’s Huskies.

Women's Ice Hockey Welcomes Guelph for Saturday Exhibition to Open 2013-14 Season; Live YouTube Stream Available
The booming sound of the scoreboard buzzer pierced the walls of the High Point Solutions Arena countless times last season but it was the final horn on Sunday, March 3 that brought the Bobcats to their knees. As the clock struck 00:00, the pain and disappointment came through with one look at the score. With that final boom of the horn meant was more than just a loss, but an end to six of greatest careers the Quinnipiac program has ever seen. This specific group of players brought an attitude, displayed great character and led the team to their most-successful four years in Quinnipiac history. The 2-0 loss at home to St. Lawrence in game three of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal series brought an end to another breakthrough season in which the Bobcats continued to tear down program and individual records. Despite a discouraging end, hope reigns supreme as the team will be returning several major contributors and welcome eight new faces who will certainly play a role in the team’s continued rise to the top.

Kelly Babstock Named to ECAC Hockey Preseason All-League Team
For the third consecutive season, Quinnipiac women's ice hockey senior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) was honored with a ECAC Hockey Preseason All-League selection, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Sept. 17. An ECAC Hockey First-Team honoree at the end of the 2012-13 season, Babstock returns looking to lead her team back to the postseason for the fifth straight season. She is joined by three Clarkson skaters, including goalie Erica Howe, defenseman Erin Ambrose and forward Jamie Lee-Rattray, as well as Harvard defenseman Sarah Edney and Cornell forward Jillian Saulnier.

Women's Ice Hockey Garners Fourth Place in ECAC Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll
As chosen by the league's coaches, the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team was selected to finish fourth in the ECAC Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Bobcats totaled 94 points after finishing the 2012-13 with a 20-12-4 overall record (13-6-3 ECAC Hockey) and advanced to the ECAC Hockey Tournament for the fourth consecutive season.

Women’s Basketball and Ice Hockey Teams Participate in Fuel 60 Event at BearPath Elementary School
Members of the Quinnipiac University women’s basketball and women’s ice hockey teams recently enjoyed a trip to Bear Path Elementary School as part of QU's Positive Play Initiative - a program that is designed to heighten community service activity by Quinnipiac's student-athletes, coaches and staff. Several Bobcats partook in Fuel 60, a national program aimed towards improving healthy eating and physical activity.

Nicole Kosta Selected for Canada's National Women's Program Red-White Series
Hockey Canada announced on Sunday the 13 players selected to join the 27 centralized with Canada’s National Women’s U-22 Team. Quinnipiac’s junior forward Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) was one of the selected players coming from the National Development Team, which just recently finished their selection camp on Saturday. Kosta now will take part in Canada’s National Women’s Program Red-White Series from Aug. 21-24 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

Quinnipiac's associate head coach Cassie Turner and junior forward Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) have been selected for Team Canada's National Women’s Development Teams. Turner joins Canada's Under-18 Team as an assistant coach while Kosta will join the Under-22/Development Team. Hockey Canada announced Monday, July 28 the 40 players and coaching staffs that have been invited to each of Canada’s National Women’s Development Team selection camps.
