HAMDEN, Conn. – Senior goalie Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) picks up her second consecutive Hogan Hockey/ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday Dec. 11. The back-to-back weekly selection makes Vigilanti the only goalie in the conference to pick up consecutive awards this season and the first time since Clarkson's Erica Howe on Oct. 18 and Oct. 25, 2011.
The senior netminder wins her 14th career Goaltender of the Week honor after posting another stellar weekend for the Bobcats with a pair of victories including her first shutout of the season. She began the weekend on Friday with a 17 save outing to hold off Princeton in a 3-2 win. She followed on Saturday with a stellar 21 save shutout for her 22nd "clean sheet" of her career in a 4-0 win for Quinnipiac.
Vigilanti stopped 38-of-40 shots over the home-and-home series with Princeton for a .950 save percentage, her highest in a two-game stretch all season. She also runs her unbeaten streak to five games as her play has proved vital for the Bobcat's success in their five-game winning streak to take control of first place in the ECAC Hockey standings. Over the past five games Vigilanti owns a 5-0 record, .941 save percentage (80 saves on 85 shots), and 1.00 goals-against-average.
Vigilanti and the Bobcats enter the midway point riding a five-game winning streak and will next play an exhibition against McGill on Saturday Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. from High Point Solutions Arena. Their next conference matchups will be a weekend road series against Dartmouth and Harvard between Jan. 11-12.
