HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's ice hockey junior goaltender Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) has been named ECAC Hockey/Fischer-Hockey Player and Goaltender of the Month, as announced by the league on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Vigilanti was a perfect 63-of-63 between the pipes in three starts during the month of December, shutting out ECAC Hockey opponents Brown on Friday, Dec. 2 and Princeton on Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10. The junior turned away 16 shots against Brown in the team's 3-0 victory, before making a game-high 26 saves against Princeton during a 1-0 shutout win. In the final game of the month for the Bobcats, Vigilanti made 21 saves against the Tigers in a 3-0 win, sending Quinnipiac into winter break with its all-time program-high seven game win streak.
Vigilanti currently leads all NCAA Division I Goaltenders with six shutouts on the season, while her 20 career clean-sheet victories has her in a four-way tie for sixth place all-time among NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey Goaltenders.
The Woodbridge, Ontario native is currently the reigning ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, a title she has been honored on two separate occasions this season. She currently holds a .913 save percentage to go along with a 2.03 goals against average on the season.
Vigilanti and the Bobcats return to the ice on Friday, Jan. 6 when they host Dartmouth at 7 p.m. The following Saturday, Jan. 7, Quinnipiac hosts Harvard in an afternoon contest at 4 p.m.
