HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's ice hockey sophomore forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) has been named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday, Nov. 22. This marks Babstock's third Player of the Week selection of her career.
Babstock earns her first Player of the Week accolades of the 2011-12 season following her most productive weekend thus far, garnering five points in two weekend games against Colgate and No. 2/3 Cornell on Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19. On Friday evening against Colgate, Babstock collected a game-high four points on two goals and two assists, which included scoring the game-winning goal, in the Bobcats' 6-2 victory. Against Cornell on Saturday, Babstock dished out an assist in the team's lone score in the third period of play.
With her eighth goal of the season at the 19:11 mark into the second period of play against Colgate, Babstock became the program's all-time leader in career points, passing Vicki Graham who finished with 73 career points in 2007. Babstock, who achieved the milestone in just her 50th career game, now has 38 goals and 38 assists in her career, holding an impressive 1.49 points per game mark.
Since joining Quinnipiac's roster last season, Babstock has accounted for 28 percent of the team's goals, 23 percent of the team's points and 19 percent of the team's assists.
Babstock and the Bobcats return to ECAC Hockey action when they travel to face Brown on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m., followed by an afternoon contest against Yale on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m.
