HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac women's ice hockey sophomore goaltender Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) has been named ECAC Hockey/MLX Skates Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
Vigilanti made a combined total of 76 saves over the weekend against ECAC Hockey opponents Dartmouth and nationally ranked No. 10 Harvard. On Friday, Feb. 4 against Dartmouth, Vigilanti turned away 35 shots, including 19 in the third period, to preserve a 4-0 shutout victory. The shutout for Vigilanti was the seventh time this season she has held the opposition scoreless, marking a new career-high. The following night on Saturday, Feb 5 against Harvard, the sophomore stopped a season-high 41 shots against the No. 10-ranked team in the country.
On the season, Vigilanti leads ECAC Hockey with 17 wins, ranks third with a 1.77 goals against average, and is fourth with a .932 save percentage. The selection was Vigilanti's fourth this season and eighth-career Goaltender of the Week honors.
