HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team (16-8-1, 8-6-0 ECAC Hockey) has received a No. 10-ranking for the second consecutive week in the January 24, 2011 USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll. The Bobcats retained the No. 10 spot after receiving its second top-10 ranking in program history in last week's January 17, 2011 USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll.
Quinnipiac, which is credited with nine points in this week's poll, has now been recognized with votes in the USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll for seven consecutive weeks, dating back to November 29, 2010. Overall, the Bobcats have received votes in 13 of the 16 weekly polls during the 2010-11 season.
Quinnipiac has also been recognized with a No. 10-ranking in the Women's Division I PairWise Rankings poll for the second consecutive week, matching its highest ranking of the season. Traditionally, the PairWise Poll is an accurate predictor of what teams the NCAA Selection Committee will choose when deciding which eight teams will be chosen for the playoff brackets.
In the KRACH Division I and II Women's Poll, the Bobcats are ranked No. 13 with a rating of 164.2.
The No.10 Bobcats return to the ice this Friday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m., when it hosts ECAC Hockey opponent Clarkson. The following afternoon on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 4 p.m., Quinnipiac will face ECAC Hockey foe St. Lawrence.
