Women's Ice Hockey Dominates ECAC Hockey/MLX Skates Weekly Awards
HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University women's
ice hockey freshman forward Erica Uden
Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden) and sophomore goaltender Victoria
Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) combined to take home all three
ECAC Hockey/MLX Skates weekly awards, as announced by ECAC Hockey
on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Uden Johansson was selected as both Rookie of
the Week and Player of the Week, while Vigilanti was named
Goaltender of the Week.
Uden Johansson contributed in a big way, as she collected four
goals and one assist during the week. Her breakout game came
against Sacred Heart on Sunday, Oct. 10 in a 5-0 victory, when she
potted three goals to earn her first-career hat trick. In a 4-0 win
Saturday, Oct. 9 against Northeastern, Uden Johansson contributed
with one goal and one assist on the afternoon.
Vigilanti, who has now collected six career Goaltender of the Week honors, had back-to-back shutout performances during the week. On Saturday against Northeastern, she turned aside 27 shots in a 4-0 team victory and on Sunday against Sacred Heart, she stopped 13 shots faced. Vigilanti has allowed one goal all season, for a .25 goals-against average and a .988 save percentage.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Friday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. in a weekend series against the University of Maine at the Harold Alfond Sports Arena.
