Women's Ice Hockey Visits Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital Auxiliary's Toy Closet

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Rick Seeley, as well as juniors Bethany Dymarczyk (Hamden, Conn.) and Jordan Elkins (Wasilla, Alaska) visited Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary's Toy Closet on Monday, Aug. 23. The Bobcats donated $1,000 and over $700 in toys that they collected on Aug. 7-8 at the Stop & Shop in Hamden, Conn.

"I remember when I was younger, I was here," Dymarczyk said. "And I remember getting a toy from the Toy Coset, so I was glad to help out and give back."

The Toy Closet program was founded more than a decade ago by WTNH Channel 8 news anchor Ann Nyberg at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. The program provides new toys to pediatric patients on birthdays, holidays, before end-of-treatment celebrations and upon discharge from the hospital.

The team's visit to Yale-New Haven Hospital was part of Quinnipiac Athletics' Positive Play program which encourages community involvement by Quinnipiac's student-athletes.
