HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Rick Seeley has announced the Bobcats' 2010-11 schedule. The Bobcats non-conference home schedule includes the University of New Hampshire, who was one of the eight NCAA Tournament Quarterfinalists from last season, Northeastern, Sacred Heart and Boston College. Quinnipiac travels to Niagara, Maine and Wayne State. The Bobcats will also host the annual Nutmeg Classic, featuring Sacred Heart, Yale and Connecticut.
"We have once again put together a very challenging schedule," Seeley said. "We have several Top 10 teams on the slate this season, including three in ECAC Hockey. We are hopeful for another exciting season at the TD Bank Sports Center."
The Bobcats open the season on the road with a pair of games on Nov. 1-2 against Niagara at Dwyer Arena in Niagara, N.Y. The Bobcats host Northeastern on Saturday, Oct. 9 for their home-opener at 3 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. They will then play Sacred Heart on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. The Bobcats head back out onto the road for a two-game series against Maine at Alfond Sports Arena in Orono, Me. on Oct. 15-16. They will then return to Hamden for a four-game home stand against Boston College on Friday, Oct. 22 at 5 p.m., followed by their first ECAC Hockey competition against Cornell on Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. and Colgate on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m.
The Bobcats open November at home against Princeton at 7 p.m. on Nov. 2. They will then play Union on Friday, Nov. 5 at Messa Rink in Schenectady, N.Y. and Rensselaer on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Houston Field House in Troy, N.Y. After a two-game set at home against Harvard on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. and Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m., the Bobcats travel to Starr Rink in Hamilton, N.Y. to face Colgate on Nov. 19 and Lynah Rink in Ithaca, N.Y. on Nov. 20 against Cornell.
Quinnipiac will close-out the month of November with the Nutmeg Classic at the TD Bank Sports Center on Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27. The Bobcats square-off against Sacred Heart on Friday at 4 p.m. followed by a non-conference match-up between Yale and UConn at 7 p.m. The winners of that game play at 7 p.m. the following night, while the losers will play at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The Bobcats only two games in the month of December fall on Dec. 3 against Yale and Dec. 4 against Brown at home. Five of Quinnipiac's eight games in January will be on the road, starting with a league match-up against Princeton on Sunday, Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. The Bobcats will head to the North Country on the following weekend to face St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena in Canton, N.Y. on Friday, Jan. 7 and Clarkson at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y. on Jan. 8. After hosting New Hampshire on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m., the Bobcats then travel to Detroit, Mich. to play Wayne State on Jan. 21 & 22.
The Bobcats finish up the season with half of their eight remaining games at home. After hosting Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29, Quinnipiac travels to Hanover, N.H. to face Dartmouth on Feb. 4 and Cambridge, Mass. on Feb. 5 against Harvard.
