Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Rick Seeley Named Finalist For ECAC Coach Of The Year

HAMDEN, Conn. -Quinnipiac University Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Rick Seeley has been named a finalist for the 2009-10 ECAC Hockey Women's Ice Hockey Coach of the Year award. Seeley is one of three finalists announced by ECAC Hockey, as voted by league head coaches.

In just his second year behind the bench, Seeley has led the Bobcats to their best season in program history. Under his tutelage, Quinnipiac posted its best overall and conference record in the program's nine-year history. The Bobcats finished the regular season with an 18-8-8 overall record with an 11-4-7 mark in ECAC Hockey.

The successful season earned Quinnipiac its first ECAC Hockey Tournament berth, as they finished in fourth place in conference play. The Bobcats will host Rensselaer this weekend in a best-of-three games series at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. It is the first time in the women's ice hockey team's history to host a postseason series.

The other finalists for the award are Doug Derraugh from Cornell and John Burke from Rensselaer. The winner will be announced next week.

The Bobcats three-game series against Rensselaer kicks-off on Friday, Feb. 26 when they hit the ice at 4 p.m. for the first game. The second game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start on Saturday, Feb. 27, with the third game (if necessary) slated for a 2 p.m. start on Sunday, Feb. 28.
