Quinnipiac University women's ice hockey standouts
Janine Duffy (Toronto, Ont.), Jordan Elkins (Wasilla, AK) and
Bethany Dymarczyk (Hamden, Conn.) were featured on NBC 30 on
Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 following the US Olympic Women's team's 12-1
win against China in the first game of the 2010 Olympic Winter
Games. Quinnipiac is currently 16-8-8 overall and 9-4-7 in ECAC
Hockey play - good for 5th place in the league standings. The
feature is also scheduled to run on Monday, Feb. 15,
Duffy played against the USA Hockey team earlier
this year as a member of the ECAC Hockey All-Stars that squared off
against the National Team at Quinnipiac's TD Bank Sports Center on
the York Hill campus of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn.
Duffy currently leads the Bobcats with 12 assists and 23 points and
also ranks among the career leaders at Quinnipiac.
Elkins and Dymarczyk have seen increased playing time in their second seasons with Quinnipiac, and both have produced career years. Elkins has totaled seven assists through 32 games this year, an increase from her four assists in 34 games last season. Dymarczyk did not tally a point in her first year, and has exploded for five goals and 10 assists in her second season in the Quinnipiac line-up. Her 10 assists rank third on the team, while her +13 plus/minus ranking is second among all Bobcats. She also has two gamewinning goals to her credit.
Quinnipiac's 25 points in ECAC Hockey place them 5th among the league's 12 teams. Clarkson and Cornell (30 points each) and Harvard and Rensselaer (26 pts.) are currently ahead of Quinnipiac in the league standings. The Bobcats are in the hunt for a spot in the top-four, securing home ice for the upcoming ECAC Hockey standings. The Bobcats host Yale on Friday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. before hosting Brown on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
