Women's Ice Hockey Receives Votes In USCHO.com Poll For Third Consecutive Week

HAMDEN, Conn. - For the third consecutive week, the Quinnipiac University women's ice hockey team received votes in the USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll. The Bobcats received one vote in the poll which recognizes the top women's ice hockey programs in the nation. Quinnipiac most recently split a weekend series with ECAC Hockey-opponents Rensselaer and Union.

The Bobcats allowed just two goals in their first conference series since Jan. 8 and 9, as they defeated Union, 3-1, on Saturday and fell to RPI, 1-0, on Friday. Quinnipiac played strong defensively in Friday's match-up with the Engineers, blocking 17 shots and killing off four consecutive penalties. A second-period surge earned the Bobcats' victory against the Dutchwomen on Saturday, as three different players scored in the middle stanza to receive two conference points on the weekend.

With three weekends left of regular-season play, Quinnipiac is currently in sixth place with 19 points in ECAC Hockey, with just one point separating the Bobcats from the three-way tie for third place between Princeton, RPI and Harvard. The ECAC Women's Ice Hockey Championship will start the weekend of Feb. 26-28 and will feature the top eight teams, with the top four seeds serving as host.

Quinnipiac returns to action when they travel to Cornell and Colgate in their final regular-season road series. The Bobcats will take on the Big Red on Friday at 7 p.m., and will face the Raiders on Saturday at 4 p.m.
