Dartmouth opened up the scoring at the 12:31 mark of the second period. After her first goal attempt was waved off minutes earlier because it was kicked in, senior Jenna Cunningham earned the 1-0 lead for the Big Green. Cunningham carried the puck through traffic behind the goal before she wrapped around the right goalpost and tucked it under the glove of Bobcat goaltender Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario). Sally Komarek and Sarah Parsons were credited with assists on the play.
Quinnipiac evened the score at the 12:33 marker of the third period with Flor's fifth goal of the season. Senior forward Janine Duffy (Toronto, Ontario) carried the puck the length of the ice and fired a shot from the inside of the right faceoff circle. The puck ricocheted off the inside of the left goalpost where Flor, who had raced alongside Duffy, collected the rebound and flipped it into the back of the net. The assist was Duffy's team-leading ninth of the season.
Lyons earned Quinnipiac the 2-1 lead with 5:02 remaining in the third period. Sophomore forward Chelsea Illchuk (Lockport, Manitoba) gathered the puck at the right side and ripped it off the pads of the Dartmouth goaltender where Lyons collected the deflection in front of the net and lifted the puck into the upper right corner. The goal was her third of the season. Sophomore Stacey Kmill (Thunder Bay, Ontario) also recorded an assist on the play.
Vigilanti recorded 20 saves in her seventh win of the season while Dartmouth goaltender, Mariel Lacina, stopped 24 shots by the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Harvard University at the TD Bank Sports Center. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
