Bluewater opened up the scoring just over one minute into the first period. Rebecca Kohler fed a pass to Emily Fulton in front of the net and Fulton snuck a shot through the pads of Quinnipiac goaltender Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario.) for the 1-0 lead.
The Bobcats responded at the 13:17 mark of the first. Sophomore Jordan Elkins (Wasilla, Alaska) ripped a shot from the left point that senior Breana Burton (Surrey, British Columbia) tipped in at the right post to tie the game at one. Sophomore Stacey Kmill (Thunder Bay, Ontario) also assisted on the goal.
Rookie forward Heather Hughes (Stoufville, Ontario) scored her first goal in a Quinnipiac jersey at the 5:26 mark of the second period. Duffy dished the puck across the face of the net to the left post where Hughes roofed it into the top right corner for the 2-1 advantage. Freshman Brittany Lyons (Canton, Mass.) was also credited with an assist on the play.
The Bobcats lit the lamp again at the 13:18 mark in the second period. Sophomore Melissa Perry (Chelsea, Mich.) fired a shot from the right point that senior Evelina Husar (Eskilstuna, Sweden) tapped into the upper right corner of the net for the 3-2 lead.
Duffy increased the Bobcat lead to 4-1 at the 16:38 mark of the third period. Freshman Breann Julius (Brookings, S.D.) intercepted a pass at the Quinnipiac blue line and dished it to Duffy at center ice. The forward streaked up the left side and snapped a shot into the upper right corner for the goal.
