Jenn Whaley Highlights A Strong Showing for Quinnipiac Women’s Golf at the DSU Spring Invitational

DOVER, Del. – Sophomore Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.) posted a two-day total of 162 to lead the Quinnipiac University women's golf team to a third place finish at the Delaware State Spring Invitational, hosted by the Maple Dale Country Club in Dover.

Whaley, who carded an 81 yesterday, matched her effort with another 81 on Sunday to tie Towson's Krissy Unger for second place in the tournament. The 162 was her best combined score since going 80-82 at the St. John's Invitational back in October.

I'm very proud of Jenn Whaley," said head coach John O'Connor. "She played really well; she had a couple of troublesome holes on the back nine, but all-in-all it was a good round for her today."

Quinnipiac's top four finishers all improved upon their first-round scores on day two. Freshmen Nicole Scola (Westerly, R.I.) headlined the group by shaving eight strokes off yesterday's figure. She carded an 80 to polish off a 168 in the 36-hole tournament.

"Nicole Scola made great improvements and I'm really looking forward to watching her at the Brown Invitational," said O'Connor. "She had the low round of the day for us."

Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) also shot in the 80's for the Bobcats, posting an 85 to finalize a score of 173. "Emily Ribbins had a good day today too," said O'Connor. "She made some noticeable adjustments that helped her to a lower score."

"Everything is gelling at the right time," O'Connor said. "I'm pretty pleased with the way our players are improving. It was a great day, the weather was good, and I'm very encouraged by the direction the team is headed."
