Women's Golf Places Three In Top Half Of Leaderboard At DSU Invitational

The Quinnipiac women's golf team placed three of its five athletes in the top half of the 22-player Delaware State University Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 13. Hannah Russell (Monson, Mass.) finished third.

"Hannah Russell put it all together today and shot a personal best. Hannah moved to a new level and it's a level that myself and coach Brown knew she was capable of," head coach John O'Connor said.

Russell shot a +7, 79 for the afternoon. Freshman Krissy Unger (New York, N.Y.) and sophomore Angelica Muscatelli (North Providence, R.I.) both shot an 83 for a tie of 8th place. Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.) carded an 85 while Taylor Lambrou (Baldwin, N.Y.) finished with an 88.

"This is where we expect Hannah to be on a regular basis. She works hard and it is starting to pay off," O'Connor said. "Angelica left a couple of strokes on the golf course and I fully expect Angelica in the 70s by the time our conference tournament rolls around. They are beginning to believe in themselves and with constant hard work all of them can contribute to this team."

Quinnipiac will resume play on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the DSU Invitational before competing in the St. Francis (N.Y.) Invitational on Oct. 15 at the Mutton Town Club in East Norwich, N.Y.
