SUFFERN, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac University women's golf team finished 14th out of 14 teams at the 6th Annual Roar-EE Invitational hosted by Columbia University at Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, N.Y. The Bobcats combined to shoot a 376 (+88) for the day.
"It was a rough day on the course today, we did not play well," head coach John O'Connor said. "There are no excuses. We just didn't have the right formula for good golf. We keep searching for things to go our way and every once and a while bad bounces make for bad scores. We just didn't handle the greens well. We didn't handle the bunkers well and those are two problems that lead to bad scores. I hope tomorrow is a better day, and we'll continue to work on it tonight and tomorrow morning before our round."
Kayla Ketcheson (St. Andrews, Manitoba) was the Bobcats' top finisher with an 89 for a tie of 51st place. Amanda Nagel (Greenwood, Minn.) shot a 93 for a tie of 65th place while Nicole Ferretti (Rumson, N.J.) sat in 69th place with a 96. Jennifer Forlenza (Wayne, N.J.) was in 72nd place with a 98.
Harvard led after the first day with a 306 (+18), followed closely behind by host Columbia at 308 (+20). Seton Hall (312, +24), St. John's (313, +25) and Long Island (315, +27) rounded-out the top five.
