The Quinnipiac women's golf team carded a combined 367 for a 19th place finish on the first day of the two-day Rutgers Women's Golf Invitational. Kayla Ketcheson (St. Andrews, Manitoba) led Quinnipiac an 88 (46-42).
"We had a very difficult day today. We weren't able to get a putt to drop or a bounce to go our way," head coach John O'Connor said. "The course was extremely wet after last night's thunderstorms and the team had a tough time adjusting and making good contact. Kayla Ketcheson played the best, with an 88, but not up to Kayla's standards. Hannah Russell shot a 93 along with Amanda Nagel and Jennifer Forlenza. Nicole Ferretti shot 111 and the entire team expects to shoot much lower tomorrow. I'm looking for major improvements and better shot selection from the entire team."
Ketcheson was tied for 80th after the first day, while Hannah Russell (Monson, Mass.), Amanda Nagel (Greenwood, Minn.) and Jennifer Forlenza (Wayne, N.J.) were all tied with 93's.
Quinnipiac is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 16 with a 8:15 a.m. shot gun start.
