HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women’s golf head coach John O’Connor has announced that senior Amanda Nagel (Greenwood, Minn.) as the team’s captain for the 2011-12 season.
“Amanda’s leadership skills make her a great candidate for this year’s captain. Her game has improved drastically, due to her determination and athletic ability,” O’Connor said.
Nagel originally came to Quinnipiac a sophomore goalie for the women’s ice hockey team in 2009 following a freshman season at Sacred Heart where she was named the team’s Most Valuable Player. Last season, Nagel consistently finished in the top three of all Quinnipiac golfers at each of the Bobcats’ tournaments. Nagel finished as Quinnipiac’s top scorer at the Brown Invitational, the Columbia University Roar-EE Invitational , the Monmouth Invitational and the Hofstra Invitational.
Quinnipiac women’s golf will play in the Towson Invitational, hosted by Towson University, at Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, Md. on Sept. 10-11. The Bobcats will also play in the Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 17-18 before heading to Twisted Dune Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. for the ECAC Championships on Oct. 2-3.
