Women's Golf Finishes 11th At Northeast Conference Championship
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Quinnipiac University women's golf team finished 11th out of 11 teams competing at the 2011 Northeast Conference Women's Golf Championship at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. Senior Brianne Tansey (Nashua, N.H.) led all Quinnipiac golfers with a three-day total of 278 (+62).
Tansey showed great consistency for the Bobcats at the three-day conference championship, shooting 94-92-92 for 45th place for the event. Tansey's 92 on Friday and Saturday were career bests for the senior. Jennifer Forlenza (Wayne, N.J.) had the best round of the season for the Bobcats on the last day, carding an 89 to close out the conference championship en route to a 47th place finish. Forlenza shot a 93 on the first day and followed with a 103 before her Saturday total. Amanda Nagel (Greenwood, Minn.) finished in 50th with a 296 (+80).
Fairleigh Dickinson captured their fourth consecutive NEC Championship, leading each round en route to a conference best 941 (+77). The top five spots remained in order for the third straight day as Sacred Heart finished second with a 977 (+113), followed by Robert Morris (987, +123), Saint Francis (Pa.) (992, +128) and Wagner (994,+130). Long Island moved up two spots from the first day to finish six at 1000 (+136), with Monmouth (1,007,+143), Mount St. Mary's (1,035, +171), Central Connecticut State (1,037, +171), St. Francis (N.Y.) (1,095, +231) and Quinnipiac (1,235, +371).
