Quinnipiac freshman Jennifer Forlenza (Wayne, N.J.) was the Bobcats' top finisher on the first day of the Roar-EE Invitational, hosted by Columbia University at Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, N.Y. Quinnipiac was 13th out of 13 teams at the two-day tournament.
"These ladies show more courage than I have ever seen competing against the best golfers in the Northeast week after week," head coach John O'Connor said. "I couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them."
Forlenza was Quinnipiac's top finisher for the afternoon after she turned in a 93 (+21) through the first 18 holes of the tournament. Forlenza's 93 is a season's best, topping the 96 she shot on the second day of the Monmouth Hawk Invitational on April 3. Brianne Tansey (Nashua, N.H.) was second for the Bobcats in 62nd place with a 94 while Amanda Nagel (Greenwood, Minn.) turned in a 104 for 66th place.
"This isn't easy, even if you're a regular tournament player," O'Connor explained. "They do a wonderful job representing Quinnipiac in the classroom and on the golf course."
Quinnipiac and Long Island are the first group at the tee box on Saturday, April 16 when the second round begins at 10:40 a.m.
