HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's golf team hosts Sacred Heart and Saint Francis (N.Y.) in its first-ever Invitational Tournament on Tuesday, Mar. 29. Tee time is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Country Club of Woodbridge in Woodbridge, Conn.
"This is an extremely young team as far as experience goes, but they have more heart and more desire and a tremendous amount of pride," said head coach John O'Connor. "They will no doubt do far better than everyone expects them to. These ladies have worked hard at their games and I'm very proud of each one of them."
The team has one senior on its eight player roster, captain Brianne Tansey (Nashua, N.H.).
"Brianne Tansey our senior has shown confidence and support for the younger golfers and she has set the tone for the future of women's golf here at Quinnipiac. While we may not be the strongest team in our conference our strength grows out of our weakness."
Tuesday will begin the inaugural season for the women's golf team, as the Bobcats host their only tournament of the season. Quinnipiac is slated to play in five additional tournaments before it heads to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the NEC Championships. Following Tuesday's tournament, Quinnipiac begins a series of road invitational tournaments, including Monmouth Invitational (April 2-3), Hofstra Invitational (Thursday, Apr. 7), Brown Tournament (April, 10-11) and the Columbia Invitational (April, 15-16).
