Brianne Tansey Named Quinnipiac Women's Golf Captain
HAMDEN,
Conn. - Quinnipiac University women's golf head coach John
O'Connor has named senior Brianne
Tansey (Nashua, N.H.) as captain for the upcoming 2011 season.
Tansey will lead the Bobcats in their inaugural year.
"Brianne is a quiet, confident young lady, that sets high standards
for herself in the classroom and on the golf course," said head
coach John
O'Connor. "The younger ladies all look up to her because she's
already a success in life and golf. I expect that the strength of
this group will come from the strength of its captain."
Tansey started golfing at age 11, as a regular of the RI Challenge
Cup Series and the RI Women's Golf Association Juniors Program. She
also trained under PGA Pro Phil Fecteau, a former New England PGA
Teacher of the Year. Tansey played varsity golf for four years at
Bishop Feehan High School and graduated as a member of the National
Honor Society.
Tansey received the Presidential Fitness Award from President
Clinton. She also played for the North Attleboro Travel Soccer team
and played left wing for the Ladies Ice Hockey RI Panthers.
Brianne is currently a senior in the Quinnipiac nursing program and
is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for
Nursing.
Quinnipiac will
compete in the Quinnipiac Bobcat Invitational on Tuesday, March 29
at 12 p.m. at the Country Club of Woodbridge in Woodbridge,
Conn.
