Brittany McQuain Named MAAC Player of the Week

EDISON, N.J. – Senior forward Brittany McQuain (Independence, Mo.) of the Quinnipiac University women's basketball team has been named the MAAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, which was officially announced on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 by the league's front office.

McQuain averaged 21.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games for the Bobcats last week. This included a career performance in her Missouri homecoming against Missouri State on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

For the third consecutive week, McQuain averaged double figures in points to lead the Quinnipiac women's basketball team. In a 1-1 week for the Bobcats, McQuain scored a career high 28 points and went 10-11 from the free throw line against Missouri State as the Bobcats went on to win 75-65. Against defending Atlantic-10 Champ, St. Joseph's, McQuain had 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

McQuain has had a very smooth transition to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). She is currently averaging 13.7 points per game and 9.1 rebounds per game. She is third in the MAAC in rebounding and 10th in the MAAC in scoring. She is also eighth in the MAAC in free throw percentage and seventh in the conference in steals per game.

McQuain currently has 1078 career points and 858 career rebounds. She is 129 points behind Queenie Edwards for 17th place in school history and is 74 rebounds behind Monique Lee for fourth place in school history. McQuain needs just 142 more rebounds to become one of only four players in Quinnipiac history to score 1000 points and have 1000 rebounds in their career.

The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 4 when they host the Hartford Hawks. The game will be televised live on NESN. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
