Women’s Basketball Receives Votes in AP Preseason Poll for First Time in School History

HAMDEN, Conn. – For the first time in program history in the preseason poll and second time in any poll, the Quinnipiac University women's basketball team received votes in the Associated Press (AP) Preseason Poll, announced on Friday, November 1, 2013. Quinnipiac is coming off their greatest season in school history with a 30-3 overall record and 18-0 record in conference play. Quinnipiac will look to continue that success in their first season as a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

In the AP Poll, defending National Champion Connecticut was the unanimous selection. Duke was tabbed second in the poll, followed by Stanford, Tennessee and Louisville to round out the top five. Notre Dame garnered the sixth spot and was trailed by Kentucky, Maryland, California and Baylor to close out the top 10.

Quinnipiac will tip off their 2013-14 season on Friday, Nov. 8 when they host North Carolina A&T in the opening round of the Preseason WNIT. Tip-off will be at 5 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn with the winner taking on the winner of Louisville vs Loyola Chicago.
