Women’s Basketball Signs Two Players for 2013-14 Season

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University Women's Basketball Head Coach Tricia Fabbri has announced that two players – Morgan Manz (Southbury, Conn.) and Brianah Ramos (Montgomery, N.Y.) – will complete on this year's 2013-14 roster. A new era of Bobcats basketball begins as Quinnipiac embarks on a challenging Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schedule this November.

Morgan Manz
Southbury, Conn. – The Taft School/Pomperaug
Height: 6-1
Position: Forward

Morgan Manz, who hails from nearby Southbury, Conn., enjoyed four years of successful high school basketball before deciding to sign with the Bobcats. Most recently, Manz wrapped up a three-year stint with The Taft School in Watertown, Conn. During her time with the Big Red, the team claimed two Founders League Championships and earned three trips to the Class A New England Playoff Tournament – including a 2011-12 campaign that featured a 20-3 overall record. Along with the team's success came individual honors for Manz as well, as she was named to the Founders, the NEPSAC and the CT West All-Star teams for her efforts.

Manz started her career at Pomperaug High School where she helped the Panthers to a 22-1 record and a South West Conference (SWC) Championship. As a freshman, the 6-foot-1 forward poured in 16 points in the championship game as the team topped Lauralton Hall for the title. In addition to basketball, Manz was also played volleyball and golf in high school. Manz intends on studying physical therapy at Quinnipiac.

Brianah Ramos
Montgomery, N.Y. – DePaul Catholic
Height: 5-9
Position: Guard

Brianah Ramos comes to Quinnipiac from Montgomery, N.Y. after a tremendous basketball career at DePaul Catholic High School. The 5-foot-9 guard has great ball control and can attack the basket, but additionally, it's her prowess on the defensive end that can alter the outcome of a game. Ramos compiled an overall record of 77-31 at DePaul – including two Passaic County Championships (2011, 2013) and a Sectional Championship in 2011. The 2012-13 season also saw Ramos score her 1,000th career point as she averaged 18 points per contest to accomplish the feat.

In addition to the team's success, Ramos was recognized with several individual honors throughout her career as well. Her most distinguished laurel came back in 2010 when she was named McDonalds All-American Honorable Mention. Ramos was selected to the All-Conference team three times (2010, 2012, and 2013), the All-Passaic County First Team three times (2010, 2012, and 2013) and the All-New Jersey team in 2013. Ramos' list of hardware also includes numerous tournament MVP honors, but it's her accomplishments scholastically that set her above from most. She was the 2013 Class Salutatorian and intends on studying physical therapy at Quinnipiac.
