Brittany McQuain Named College Sports Madness Player of the Week

HAMDEN, Conn. – Junior Brittany McQuain (Independence, Mo.) of the Quinnipiac University women's basketball team was named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the Northeast Conference, announced on Monday, February 18, 2013. McQuain helped the Bobcats to three straight NEC victories last week, defeating Mount Saint Mary's, Central Connecticut and Saint Francis University.

 The 5-foot-11 power forward averaged 15.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game during the stretch, including a 21-point outburst against CCSU. McQuain opened the week with her fifth double-double of the season against the Mountaineers, collecting 14 points, 13 rebounds and four assists four steals in the win. McQuain led the Bobcats past the Blue Devils on Wednesday and then capped off the week with an 11-point, 14-rebound effort against the Red Flash.
She is currently averaging 11.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game on the season. McQuain is 125 points (875) shy of 1,000 for her career and ranks seventh all-time in rebounds at Quinnipiac. She ranks third in the Division I era.
The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday night with a home contest against Monmouth University. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center.
