Women’s Basketball Ranked 22nd In College Insider Mid-Major Poll

The Quinnipiac women's basketball team remains on the College Insider Top 25 Mid-Major Polls, ranked at No. 22 as announced on Tuesday, Nov. 27.  The Bobcats are currently coming off to a great start to the season at 3-0 with wins over No. 20 James Madison as well as the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, Nov. 26.   

Senior Felicia Barron (Springfield, Mass.) led the Bobcats in scoring this past week against the Rams, compiling 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor. The senior also added five rebounds and four assists in the non-conference showdown. Also adding to the Quinnipiac's offense were point guards Gillian Abshire (Washington D.C.), Lisa Lebak (Robbinsville, N.J.) and Shaina Earle (South Orange, N.J.). They combined for 11 assists and just one turnover in the home-opener.  For the year, they have 20 assists and just seven turnovers for an outstanding 2.86 assist-to-turnover ratio.

In the first half alone the Bobcats poured in a season-best 47 points behind 52.9 percent shooting from the floor.  Sophomore guard Jasmine Martin (Sicklerville, N.J.) finished with 17 points and three rebounds and Nikoline Ostergaard (Vedbaek, Denmark) chipped in with a career-best of 10 points - all coming in the first half. Camryn Warner (Keene, N.H.) added eight points and six rebounds and Brittany McQuain (Independence, Mo.) had seven points and game-high eight rebounds.

The Bobcats return to the hardwood tonight, Nov. 28, to take on Yale University at the Whitney Payne Gym. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Quinnipiac travels to Providence this weekend, Dec. 1st and 2nd, to take part in the Brown Bear Tournament where they will meet the University of New Hampshire in the first round of play.
