Bobcats Host Bulldogs
The Quinnipiac University women’s basketball team
(6-3, 1-1 NEC) will host Yale University (5-4, 0-0 Ivy League) in a
non-conference game on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at the TD Bank Sports
Center in Hamden, Conn. The contest will be televised live on the
New England Sports Network (NESN) with tip-off scheduled for 4
p.m.

Scouting Yale
Yale enters Tuesday’s match-up at 5-4 on the year.
In their most recent outing, the Bulldogs defeated Northeast
Conference opponent St. Francis (N.Y.), 72-41, on Dec. 18. Yale
also earned a win against NEC foe Fairleigh Dickinson, 80-51,
earlier in the season. The Bulldogs are led by Megan Vasquez, who
averages 16.2 points per game, while Janna Graf leads the team in
rebounds per game (5.4). Vasquez currently shoots 44.3 percent from
the floor and 37.3 percent from three-point range. Overall, the
Bulldogs average 65.4 points per game.
All-Time Against The Bulldogs
Tuesday afternoon marks the 16th meeting between
Quinnipiac and Yale. The Bobcats lead the all-time series,
8-7. In its most recent meeting, Yale defeated Quinnipiac,
74-68, on Dec. 22, 2010 in New Haven, Conn. The Bobcats also lead
the series at home, 5-3, and are 8-5 against the Bulldogs in
Division I.
Last Time Out
The Bobcats earned their fifth non-conference win and
second victory over an Atlantic-10 team this season as they
defeated Rhode Island, 72-67, in overtime on Dec. 10. Quinnipiac
was led by Felicia Barron’s season-high 22 points and
Brittany McQuain’s second-half and extra time surge of 13
points to win their first overtime game of the year. Kari Goodchild
and Jasmine Martin also posted double figures with 11 and 12
points, respectively. Goodchild’s 11 points were a
season-high for the senior captain.
Facts From The Floor
The Bobcats went 25-for-58 from the floor at Rhode Island
for a season-high 43.1 shooting percentage.
Stealing Streaks
The Bobcats combined for 13 steals in their win at URI,
the second most this season. Quinnipiac has posted double digits in
steals in eight of nine games this year. The Bobcats currently rank
48th in the national standings with 11.6 steals per
game.
Leading Ladies
Felicia Barron, Brittany McQuain and Jasmine Martin have
led the Bobcats’ offensive efforts in each of their games
during 2011-12. Barron currently averages a team-high 15.6 points
per game, while Martin and McQuain post 13.2 and 11.9 points per
game, respectively. All three players have surpassed the 100-point
mark this year.
Bobcats On The Boards
Quinnipiac has outrebounded six of its opponents this
season. Sophomore forward Brittany McQuain currently averages a
team-leading 9.7 rebounds per game, which rank 41st in
the country. McQuain has pulled down a total of 87 boards this
season, while fellow classmate Camryn Warner ranks second on the
team with 5.2 rebounds per game.
Stealing The Show
Junior Felicia Barron has led the team in steals in each
of its games this season. Barron currently leads the national
standings in steals per game (6.2).
Double Trouble
Prior to its games against Sacred Heart and Rhode Island,
the Bobcats had at least one player post a double-double in each of
their games. Brittany McQuain leads the Bobcats with six double
doubles this season and 13 combined between this year and her
rookie campaign.
Giving Pointers
The Bobcats continue to post a positive scoring margin,
currently at +0.6, as they average 67.8 points per game.
Turning It Around
After finishing the 10-11 season with a -0.93 turnover
margin, the Bobcats currently post a positive turnover margin of
+.48. The Bobcats currently average 16.1 turnovers, while forcing
20.9 turnovers per game. Quinnipiac also ranks 50th in
the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.92).
What’s Ahead For
Quinnipiac in 2011
The Bobcats return to action when they play a pair of
non-conference games on the road. Quinnipiac travels to face
American on Wednesday, Dec. 28 and Army on Friday, Dec. 30. Both
games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
