Bobcats Look For Fourth-Consecutive Win At Army
The Quinnipiac University women’s basketball team (8-3, 1-1 NEC) travels to West Point, N.Y. to take on the Army Black Knights (6-6, 0-0 Patriot League) on Friday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. at Christl Arena. The Bobcats enter the match-up after defeating American University, 72-59, on Wednesday night.

Scouting Army
The Black Knights enter Friday’s contest at 6-6 overall, while they stand at 5-2 at Christl Arena and 1-4 on the road. Army currently averages 57.4 points per game with a +3.6 scoring margin. The team also pulls down 39.1 rebounds per game with a rebounding margin of +5.3. In its most recent outing, Army lost at Arizona State, 83-46, on Dec. 20. Jen Hazlett and Jessica Waggoner each scored 11 points in the outing. Hazlett currently leads the team with 12.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 40.5 percent (20-35) from three-point range. Anna Simmers ranks second on the team in points per game (10.5) and leads Army with a 77.4 free-throw shooting percentage (24-31).

All-Time Against The Black Knights
Friday’s match-up marks the fourth meeting between Quinnipiac and Army with the Bobcats leading the all-time series, 3-0. Last year, the Bobcats defeated the Black Knights, 69-65, on Dec. 11, 2011, its only game played against Army at the TD Bank Sports Center.  Quinnipiac also earned wins against Army during the 2001-02 and 1983-84 seasons.

Last Time Out
In its most recent outing, Quinnipiac defeated Patriot League opponent American, 72-59, on Wednesday night in Washington, D.C. in the team’s first meeting in program history. Felicia Barron scored a game-high 21 points, while Brittany McQuain pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds. The Bobcats stayed ahead of the Eagles for the entire game and the team’s 13-point final scoring margin registers as Quinnipiac’s highest of the season. The Bobcats also out-rebounded the Eagles, 38-to-32.

Season-High Shooting
Quinnipiac shot a season-high 50 percent from the floor (26-52) and 52.9 percent from three-point range (19-17) at American. Felicia Barron led the Bobcats’ efforts from behind the arc as she finished five-of-eight three-pointers on the night.

What A Good Game
Senior Kari Goodchild scored a season-high 16 points against the Eagles, shooting six-for-eight from the floor and two-for-four from three-point range. She also collected two points from the charity stripe while compiling five boards.

Assisting The Win
Freshman Gillian Abshire tallied a career-high seven assists at American across 22 minutes of play in her 11^th start of her rookie campaign.

A Victory Before The Holidays
The Bobcats defeated Yale, 68-63, on Dec. 20. Junior Felicia Barron led Quinnipiac with a season-high 24 points, while sophomore Brittany McQuain posted her seventh double-double of the year with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Over The Hill
The Bobcats outrebounded Yale by 20 (56-to-36) as the team pulled down a season-high 56 rebounds, the first time this season that Quinnipiac has posted above 50 boards in an outing.

Believe In Barron
Felicia Barron has gone 15-for-30 from the floor in the Bobcats’ past two games against Yale and American. The 5-7 guard also scored a season-high 24 points against the Bulldogs and 21 points at American. She currently leads the team with 16.8 points per game, which ranks fifth amongst Northeast Conference players.

Double Trouble
Brittany McQuain currently leads the team with seven double doubles after she contributed 13 points and 13 rebounds against Yale. McQuain has combined for 14 career double doubles.

McQuain Makes It Happen
Brittany McQuain has pulled down 117 rebounds this season for a team-high 10.6 boards per game, which ranks at the top of the NEC rankings. McQuain has been the team’s leading rebounder in nine of its 11 games. The sophomore forward also ranks third for the Bobcats with 11.6 points per game.

Fantastic Freshmen
Freshman Jasmine Martin is one of three Bobcats to reach the 100-point mark this season, posting 132 points and 12 points per game, which rank second on the team and the top-15 of the NEC.

Stealing The Show
Felicia Barron continues to lead the Bobcats, the NEC and the nation with 5.7 steals per game. Barron currently posts 63 steals on the year, which ranks fifth in Quinnipiac’s Division I single-season category for steals. The 5-7 guard has led Quinnipiac in steals in each of its games this season.

Awesome Offense
The Bobcats have out-rebounded their opponents in eight of their 11 outings, dominating opponents in offensive rebounds, 172-to-122. Quinnipiac currently leads the conference with 15.6 offensive rebounds per game.

The Scoring Situation
Quinnipiac currently leads the Northeast Conference with 68.2 points per game. The Bobcats also post a scoring margin of +2.1, while holding opponents to less than 69 points per game in each of its eight wins this season.

NEC Notes
The Bobcats rank second in league action in assists (15.3) and in the top five in steals (10.8) per game. In addition, Quinnipiac leads the conference with a +3.1 turnover margin. 

What’s Ahead For Quinnipiac
The Bobcats return to action when they host their final non-conference game of the season against St. Joseph’s on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. The Bobcats will then re-open Northeast Conference play when they face St. Francis (N.Y.) on the road and Long Island at home on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m., respectively.
