Bobcats Travel To American
The Quinnipiac University women’s basketball team
(7-3, 1-1 NEC) will travel to play at American University (7-4, 0-0
Patriot League) on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. at Bender Arena in
Washington, D.C. The Bobcats enter the non-conference game after
defeating Yale, 68-63, in their most recent match-up before the
holidays.

Scouting American
The Eagles host the Bobcats with a 7-4 overall record. AU
posts a 2-4 record at home and is undefeated on the road, 3-0. In
its most recent outing, American defeated Loyola (Md.), 63-48, on
Dec. 21, where four Eagles scored in double figures. Sophomore
forward Sarah Kiely, collected her first career double-double with
11 points and 10 rebounds in the outing, while guards Alexis Dobbs
and Geleisa George each scored 11 points. Senior guard Lisa Strack
currently leads the Eagles with 11 points per game, while Dobbs
ranks second on the team in points per game (10.2). Strack and
junior center Stephanie Anya lead AU in rebounds with 6.6 and 6.2
boards per game, respectively. Overall, American averages 55.2
points per game and 36 rebounds per game. Earlier in the year, the
Eagles were picked first in the Patriot League Preseason Poll.
All-Time Against The Eagles
Wednesday’s match-up marks the first meeting between
Quinnipiac and American.
Last Time Out
The Bobcats picked up their sixth non-conference victory
of the season as they defeated Yale, 68-63, on Dec. 20. Junior
Felicia Barron led Quinnipiac with a season-high 24 points, while
sophomore Brittany McQuain posted her seventh double-double of the
year with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Over The Hill
The Bobcats outrebounded Yale by 20 (56-to-36) as the team
pulled down a season-high 56 rebounds, the first time this season
that Quinnipiac has posted above 50 boards in an outing.
Believe In Barron
Felicia Barron went 8-for-19 from the floor and 7-for-8
from the line as she scored a game and a season-high 24 points
against the Bulldogs. Barron currently leads the Bobcats and ranks
fifth amongst Northeast Conference opponents with 16.4 points per
game.
Double Trouble
Brittany McQuain currently leads the team with seven
double doubles after she contributed 13 points and 13 rebounds
against Yale. McQuain has combined for 14 career double
doubles.
McQuain Makes It Happen
Brittany McQuain has pulled down 100 rebounds this season
for a team-high 10 rebounds per game, which also are tied in the
second slot in the NEC rankings. McQuain has been the team’s
leading rebounder in eight of its 10 games. The sophomore forward
ranks third on the Bobcats with 12 points per game.
Fantastic Freshmen
Freshman Jasmine Martin is one of three Bobcats to reach
the 100-point mark this season, posting 125 points and 12.5 points
per game, which rank 11th amongst conference
players.
Stealing The Show
Felicia Barron continues to lead the Bobcats, the NEC and
the nation with 6.1 steals per game. Barron currently posts 61
steals on the year, which ranks fifth in Quinnipiac’s
Division I single-season category for steals. The 5-7 guard has led
Quinnipiac in steals in each of its games this season.
Awesome Offense
The Bobcats have out-rebounded their opponents in seven of
their ten outings, dominating opponents in offensive rebounds,
163-to-112. Quinnipiac currently leads the conference with 16.9
offensive rebounds per game.
The Scoring Situation
Quinnipiac currently leads the Northeast Conference with
67.8 points per game. The Bobcats also post a scoring margin of
+1.0, while holding opponents to less than 69 points per game in
each game this season.
NEC Notes
The Bobcats rank second in league action in assists (14.9)
and steals (11.4) per game. In addition, Quinnipiac leads the
conference with a +3.7 turnover margin.
Charity Stripe Stats
Rookie Jasmine Martin is currently shooting a team-high
76.9 percent (30-for-39) from the free-throw
line.
What’s Ahead For
Quinnipiac
The Bobcats return to action when they travel to face Army
on Friday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. Quinnipiac will then host its final
non-conference game of the season when it plays St. Joseph’s
on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. The Bobcats will then take on
Northeast Conference opponents St. Francis (N.Y.) and Long Island
on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.,
respectively.
