HAMDEN, Conn. – College Sports Madness has named junior guard Felicia Barron (Springfield, Mass.) the Northeast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the second time this season, as announced on Monday, Jan. 30.
Barron picks up her second weekly honor from the college athletics website after helping the Bobcats earn NEC wins against Sacred Heart, 71-34, and Wagner, 77-60, last week. The 5-7 guard was both games’ leading scorer as she averaged 21.5 points per game. Barron matched a career-high 26 points at SHU and registered a game-high 17 points against Wagner, while compiling seven steals, five rebounds, four assists and two blocks across 45 minutes of play.
Barron also earned the weekly award during the week of Nov. 28, while being named Mid-Major Player of the Week for her exceptional performances at Saint Mary's Thanksgiving Tournament.
After winning five consecutive league games, the Bobcats, are currently second in the league standings at 7-2, while Sacred Heart remains in first place with an 8-1 record. Quinnipiac returns to action when it hosts Mount St. Mary’s on Monday, Jan. 30. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden. Conn.
